My goal this year is to find a dedicated group of individuals that want to go out backcountry ski pretty much every sunday of the winter. I am new to backcountry but I am taking a 3 day avalanche course in December and would expect that you would have had similar training.
So if there are any established groups of backcountry skiers that wouldn't mind an extra, or if you are interested in going skiing/boarding then please let me know. I am the type of person though that will bring the grill up in the back of the car on those days that the snow is not that good and grill in the parking lot.
This will be a great way to stay in shape during the winter.
Reminder: Berbaum will not be there so bring some hot tasty (read spiked) beverages to share.

Amen to that. Â That was some excellent scrambling. Â And it's hard to imagine that we'd have been able to gather critical mass for a lot of teams. Â It just wouldn't have been the same, I'd have to say.
So, thanks to everyone who found us fields.

Hi all! I'll post again to the list instead of just to the lost and found:
I picked up a 'bomb disposal' hat left at the fields at sectionals.. . If it's yours, let me know... If not, I just scored a great hat.
Someone picked up my Potlatch 2009 disc at sectionals. It's pretty distinctive, has a blue banana spray painted on the back. If it mistakenly migrated into someone's bag or was picked up on the field after I mistakenly abandoned it, please let me know. Much appreciated! :)

I managed to arrive home after the fall league tourney on Sunday afternoon missing my wallet. It is an unremarkable, black leather wallet with all the standard fare (credit cards, ~$20, library cards, etc.) If anyone comes across it, please give me a ring!
Your home away from home is a 1000 sq foot, fully furnished up-stairs suite with big windows, lots of sunshine and a view of the mountains. It is brand new -- totally remodeled, new kitchen, new bathroom, new carpet, new paint, new light fixtures and new furniture. This place is immaculate. Just $150 per night! Is there someone who lives in Broomfield, not too far from Highland Park who can put up a sign for any league players who didn't get the message that the tournament has been moved to Longmont? If you can do this tonight or tomorrow before 8:30am, let us know.

dear geoff,
i don't think you'll be disappointed with the ultimate here year-round. there are no winter leagues. i have no idea about colorado springs, but there is weekly pick-up in denver, boulder, and golden. when are you moving here? i can send you times and locations of games, if you'd like. saturday outdoor pick-up in denver, sunday outdoor pick-up in boulder, monday indoor pick-up in golden, and tuesday and thursday indoor pick-up in boulder. there is also at least one regular pick-up for goaltimate, but i'm not 100% when and where.
when you say you are looking to play competitive, do you mean league or club? men's or coed? either way, i think you'll get your fill.
not moving to boulder but colorado springs..im having a hard time getting ahold of anyone there or denver...what can i expect from the ultimate scene there?..im looking to play competetive...are there teams?..what level?...i saw they have summer only league...any winter ultimate in colorado?...ill make the drive to boulder for some winter pick up if need be...specially some of that indoor i saw if i have to...see you soon...coming from southern oregon...geoff

The Savage Seven tournament in Pueblo this weekend has been changed to a 1 day, Saturday only tournament, so now you can play in the tournament on Saturday and still make league on Sunday. Games start at 9:00 and will be done by 5:00. 2 teams are still looking for men and women.
Man I love you guys! Thanks for keeping the dream alive...or something like that. I must admit that this was probably the single most entertaining and memorable incident to happen on the gru list. And it just keeps on giving. It is great!
The second would be the woman that basically verbally assulted me and sent a plethra of spam to the list because I said I hate stupid plague infested prairie dogs, but the tent incident still blows that out of the water. Now that I think about it, maybe she just sent all those emails to me personally and not the list. I don't really know because I deleted them almost instantly after making it part way through the first email. I didn't have time to read several novels from a woman who misunderstood my point and insulted me. Tyson, what are your current feelings towards those birds of prey? Do you still stand strong?
Anyway, did anyone ever end up meeting "tent man", or did he quickly tuck tail and run? And JB, why are you not posting anymore. Your brilliant wit is truly missed.

Ask, and it shall be given thee.
Yes, I actually have GRU emails dating back many years. And much to my happy surprise, a quick search for "tent" turned up the original message. So here, for the reading pleasure of those GRU members who aren't old and crusty and have been around for all these years, I present the original email thread that started the tent legend.
06/12/2005 - Some guy named Ritchie writes to the GRU chat list:
Hi all, I'm going to Wakarusa Music Fest. this Thursday to Monday and was wondering if I could use a tent {moved out here in a 2door sentra, and gave all my gear away, and brought photo albums instead} Of course I'd buy you a new tent if anything happened to it. Thanks RItchieeeeee
There was much love and faith on Sunday when I first asked for help,,,but after three days and no-one willing to help out, I'd want people to know what kind of people are on this list in case they every need anything, they'll know this is not the place to find kind folks, sorry
Do you even play ultimate frisbee? Are you signed up for summer league? If you were you would know what kind of people are on this list and how wonderful and giving we are to those we know.
This is not the place to insult everyone, especially if you just moved here...what a wonderful first impression you've made on all "600" of us.
Pardon me, but as the moderator of this group, please refrain from coming into our group/community accusing "us" of no help, love or kindness. Perhaps the world (or GRU chat) doesn't revolve around you; as everyone didn't drop what they were doing to respond promptly with offers of a tent. Take your bitterness to another group of loveless, helpless, kindless people.
richie - thank you so much for opening my eyes to the type of people on this list. i was under the misguided impression that they were some of the coolest and most helpful people i've ever known. alas, i was proven wrong by their unwillingness to give stuff to some random who spams them with a mass email.
bastards.
yet it all adds up - a couple months ago, i emailed the list asking for a houseboat. i got NO LOVE, thus proving your point. and don't even bother asking these f#ckers for a foot massage.
but you'll find it's not limited to this email list. the whole town is seriously LOVE deprived. for example, the other day i gazed upon my lawn and noticed how sparse it was. so i went over to my neighbor's place and moved his pink flamingos to my yard. they looked so beautiful and i was quite pleased. i felt like the prettiest girl at the ball. but when the SOB got home, he showed me NO LOVE. and he had the nerve to ask for the flamingos back.
HELLO!! NOT HELPFUL!!
it's gotten so bad, that recently i had to get a job just so i could buy my own stuff. ugh. this place is crazy!!
anyway, you have provided a shining example of LOVE and KINDNESS. one can only hope it begins to rub off on the heathens who comprise this list.
godspeed, my good man. -jb
p.s. if you still need a tent, just follow Hutton around - he pops one at anything that moves. (of course, there's only enough space to sleep a small bug, so hopefully you're a little dude.)
OMG!! I was chuckling out loud (COL/LOL?) as I read this! Careful what you ask for but thanks, Jeff, for sharing that. Going on 5 years old and it still lives. Whatever, whoever Richie is, was, man you gotta admit there's a TON of love in GRU! Grady
P.S. ANY parties Saturday night? Can't be too sober if there's a tourney on Sunday.

Also, if you are looking for someone to, uhhh, "show you around town", as the kids say, it sounds like Milano is available. She's pretty awesome, although she does have the occasional problem with hitting 'Reply to All' inadvertently.

dear geoff,
i don't think you'll be disappointed with the ultimate here year-round. there are no winter leagues. i have no idea about colorado springs, but there is weekly pick-up in denver, boulder, and golden. when are you moving here? i can send you times and locations of games, if you'd like. saturday outdoor pick-up in denver, sunday outdoor pick-up in boulder, monday indoor pick-up in golden, and tuesday and thursday indoor pick-up in boulder. there is also at least one regular pick-up for goaltimate, but i'm not 100% when and where.
when you say you are looking to play competitive, do you mean league or club? men's or coed? either way, i think you'll get your fill.

Haarburger, what do you need a tent/sleeping bag for? I thought you marsupials slept down under the night sky snug as a bug in your own pouches while the billy boils.
