Have you heard of the Ultimate History book yet? It's a 200 page
coffee
table book that myself (and the firm I work at) are designing about
the
history of ultimate from 1968-2004 loaded with TONS of exciting photos
and a
DVD with never before seen footage. We're trying to drum up pre-orders
so we
can defray the cost of printing. Below is an email from Joe Seidler
who is
publishing the book. It will be available in early 2005, and tons of
info
about it is available at http://www.ultimatehistory.com
Read on, and PLEASE forward this to anyone you may think would find
this
interesting (any other ultimate related groups?). We need to spread
the
word!
Happy Holidays!

As you know, the Ultimate History book has been a labor of love of
many, many current and past Ultimate players this year. As there is no
easy way to communicate with the Ultimate community as a whole, we
need
a viral marketing effort.
UPA members will see our ad in the upcoming UPA magazine, but they
won't receive it until late this month. And Leagues, college IM and
the
International Ultimate community have no vehicle for overall
communications. So we need your help.
Please forward this (or your own) message to all of your Ultimate
email
lists and friends. And if you have access to a League, club, team or
other website, please add a link to the Ultimate History book website
shown here:
http://www.ultimatehistory.com
There are two good reasons to order "ULTIMATE: The First Four Decades"
this month. First, the 10% discount expires at the end of December.
And
second, everyone placing orders in December will be eligible for the
raffle including 4 prizes from great vendors.
We hope the book will be available in February 2005 (the actual length
of time printing takes is out of our hands), and early orders this
month help defray the cost of printing. And the more books we can
print, the more people will have a chance to learn the true history
and
spirit of Ultimate. If someone would like to give the book as a
holiday
gift, you can download a holiday card from the book website at this
page:
http://www.ultimatehistory.com/promos/holidaycard.html
And to all that have already ordered, thank you for your support.
Many thanks,
Joe Seidler

Please forward this on to other Ultimate players that may
not be on these lists.
Are you an Ultimate playing teacher at a ColoradoHigh School?
Or
Are you interested in coaching high school
or youth Ultimate?
The Colorado HS Ultimate League is gearing up for another
exciting spring league of Ultimate. Last year we had a 16 team high
school spring league and state championship as well as an 80 player Denver
Youth League. We are always looking for more players, teams, and adult
volunteers to get involved. Youth Ultimate is the fastest growing
Ultimate around and it is important that experienced Ultimate players are
involved teaching players the skills and strategies as well as Spirit of the Game.
If you know of a high school aged group playing in your area,
are a high school teacher that would like to start a team at your school, or are
an experienced Ultimate player interested in coaching some new players, please
get in touch with me at kyle.weisbrod@....
The UPA is also hosting another Coaching Clinic in Denver. The
clinic will take place at ColoradoAcademy on January
23rd. This clinic covers several topics like:
-Teaching Basic Skills
-Coaching Ethics
-Liability and Insurance
-Promoting the sport
-Teaching Spirit of the Game
-Fitness and Conditioning
While these clinics are geared towards coaches working with
youth, there is plenty of materials for coaches of all levels from high school,
to league captains, to college captains and coaches. For more information
and for registration please visit www.upa.org/coaches.

Hey everyone, at the risk of stating the obvious to a forum comprised of hundreds of folks, I believe the Zipster meant to say Saturday, 12/11 for Pearl Harbor Day pick-up. At least I hope so, I'd hate to miss all the fun that this annual celebration provides for a silly Golden Tee tournament and a bunch of football games.
See you on the fields.
Peace,SD

Hello Boulder Ultimate!
Zip here. Hey, I am renting a bedroom in my 3 BR, 1.5 BA house. The
house is in a good location in South Boulder. We have a flower garden,
front and back yards, and a garden shed and two decks.
The truly wonderful thing about my house is the interior. It has a
spacious open interior with hardwood floors and saltillo tile (you
know that earthen ceramic tile from Saltillo, Mexico), a sunken den
with a large natural rock gas fireplace (so you can burn it everyday
if you want. There is a beautiful gallery kitchen with marble counter
tops and new appliances including gas stove.
There is a large basement where you can store all your stuff. I have a
computer with hi-speed internet which you can share or we can network
yours. $450/month + 1/3rd of utilities.
Call or email me if you are interested or know someone who is. Feel
free to pass this along to others if you think they might be interested.
Sincerely,

Sat Dec 11, 12pm, Violet: Pearl Harbor Day pickup. An annual
tradition. Wear military garb (or Hawaiian shirts?). A license to huck
will be featured. There will also be a party, details provided at the game.
Also:
Sun Dec 12, 1:30pm, Violet: Winter Sunday pickup. We play in the snow.
Thanks to the ladies who stuck around after their clinic to give us
7's this past Sunday.

Women's Clinic is a "go" for tomorrow (Sunday). Field is covered with
snow, but not wet. Bundle up--it will be chilly...
Hope to see you tomorrow at 11:00am, Violet Fields in North Boulder
(off Broadway, just south of Lee Hill Road).

Hey All,
I am going to try and get some pick-up Ultimate going this
Saturday. Being that the fences are still up at Wash Park I think
the next best place will be Veteran's Park (directly west of the
police station off of University and I-25). I will bring some
cones. So, if you are not skiing and jones-ing for some ulty come
on out. Say 1:30ish? Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and high of
50. Thanks and I hope to see some of you out there.
Scot
Greetings everyone, I just wanted to pass along a note in support of a good cause. This evening (Th 12/2) from 6:00 'til ? there will be a fund raising effort for the CU Childrens Center at the Boulder Barnes and Noble bookstore (near Whole Foods). If you've been thinking about buying a new book for yourself or for a holiday present stop by the B&N tonight to do so and help support pre-school education at the University.
My girlfriend Lynn and her co-workers will be handing out vouchers for their group at a table near the front (I'm told) of the store, which can then be redeemed at checkout, with a percentage of sale funds going towards the school's coffers. Unfortunately I don't know the particulars of how much will be donated but rest assured that every little bit helps. So please, come on out and get that copy of "War and Peace" or "Horton Hears a Hoo" or whatever it is that you are into and remember...
Reading is FUNdamental!
Peace,SD

Hello everyone, sorry I missed the turkey bowl hope it was fun! Anyway I am
looking for anyone who might be interested in doing some early season weekday
skiing! Like, say tomorrow (Monday)! I was advised that there is a handful
of unemployed ultimate players out there that may be interested and available
for some carpooling action to the slopes. Actually I have every Monday and
Friday off and all my skiing companions are full time employed :-(.

Turkey Bowl: 10am (ultimate time), Violet.
Looks like decent weather. You remember what number we're up to, Berbaum?

Hey folks,
With Fall pickup at Violet winding down (2 more short games Tu/Th this week) and E posting about the women's clinics, I just wanted to throw this out there. Adjust as necessary.
Sundays, beginning Nov 21 and continuing through the winter - Winter Pickup. 1:30pm-ish, after women's clinic, Violet.
Thurs, Nov 25 (Thanksgiving Day) - Turkey Bowl. 10am-ish, Violet.

Anybody have information about Thankgiving day pickup (Turkey bowl)?
Just a quick reminder in hopes of enticing some of you out of Boulder tomorrow night for my "cover" band's show at the Druid's Arms in Old Town Louisville. It's a fun little drinking joint off of Main St. We start at 10. Hope to see maybe a few of you. Oh yeah. Those of you who live outside of Boulder should come out, too.
Hey, Ladies!
Just a reminder that if the temperature on Sunday is BELOW 40 degrees,
the clinic is automatically cancelled. Coed pickup at 1pm will
probably still happen, if you're interested. The current forecast is
calling for a high on Sunday of 31 degrees...
That MAY change, but at this point, it looks unlikely that the clinic
will happen this Sunday (21 November). Check www.weather.com on
Saturday evening or head right to the slopes or sleep in!
I'm still looking for intermediate or advanced players to help out
with the clinic. Please let me know if you're interested. Hope to see
you all on the 28th.
Thanks.

A friend of mine works for a company that is looking for an Oracle mid- to senior-level PL/SQL developer. This is in the group that maintains their WMS (warehouse management system). The office is in Broomfield, in Interlocken near Flatirons Crossing mall. It's a nice group of people, and a stable (profitable!) business. The application is stable enough that you don't get calls in the middle of the night.
Let me know if you're interested.

Hi,
I'm looking to buy another vehicle and I'm asking for your help in
networking: the best way for me to find what I want is through
someone I
know who knows of a good vehicle. (By the way, I'll be selling my
1991
Honda Civic Si, if you or anyone you know is interested.)
I'm looking for a small pickup truck. It must be a 4-wheel drive,
extra
cab. Ideally, a four-cylinder, five-speed, with A/C. Any accessories
like
topper shell, bedliner, brush guard, lights, etc. are definitely a
plus.
I'm willing to spend up to $5,000, but would strongly prefer to spend
less.
I'd prefer a bright color, with black or white my least favorite.
My first choice is a 1995 or 96 Toyota Tacoma four-cylinder. Second
choice
is a 90-95 Toyota pickup with the 22RE motor. I'm also very
interested in
Nissans, Mazdas, Ford Rangers, Chevy S-10s and GMC Sonomas. (I'm
trying to
be flexible!)
It seems like there are a lot of these available out there but they
are
either quite pricey or have very high miles. If you know of anything
like
this that's a good deal, please let me know.
Here's the other aspect of the networking part: I'm also interested
in an
older truck that's been very-well maintained or already has all of
the
things I want to add, like a basic shell/camper top, bedliner, etc.
And,
yes, I could definitely pay more than $5K for a really, really great
deal.
Many thanks for your time and your help. Please feel welcome to
forward
this on. (And let me know if you don't want emails like this in the
future!)
yours,
Geremy
303-499-3887
P.S. If you or anyone you know is interested in the Honda, here are
the
details:
I'll sell this as soon as I get a truck. Trades invited!
1991 Honda Civic Si. Red, 5sp, 1.6 liter hatchback. Only 66K miles!
Second
owner. Perfect condition inside and outside: Pictures available.
Black
interior, sunroof. Timing belt done at 35K. Recent master cyclinder,
brake
pads, etc. Studded snows. Very nice stereo. KYB AGX adjustable
shocks.
Yakima roof rack available. Quick, great handling, runs and drives
great.
$3500 obo.
