The Aikido Institute Inc is a Martial Arts Education provider
recognised by Education Queensland and Disability Services Queensland.
Over the last eleven years, in addition to the full time Dojo
operations, it has provided behaviour management and enrichment
programmes to over four thousand secondary and primary students in the
Sunshine Coast region. These largely kinaesthetic programmes have used
the model of traditional Budo to engage the students in transformative
life skill development.

In 2003 the Institute opened a unique extension to our operation –
Aiki Abilities. This is a Disability Service catering to clients with
an intellectual disability. In its' first year of operation, the
service was recognised with the key award of Outstanding Service
Provider 2003. In addition it was runner-up in the Innovative
programmes category.

The Institute has a permanent part time position (20 hours plus) that
bridges both these services.

The successful applicant will have:

o      Extensive experience in Aikido (Shodan + preferred)
o      Experience in the fields of education or training (Bachelor of
Education or similar / Certificate 4 Workplace Trainer and Assessor or
similar)
o      Experience and/or qualification in youth work (+ Suitability card
for Child related employment)
o      Experience and/or qualification in Disability Support (Certificate 4
Disability Support Worker or similar)

This is a unique position for a service-dedicated individual with a
community organisation based on traditional martial principles.
