3. Congratulations To Dr. Charlie James
Congratulation to Charlie on receiving her doctorate for her work on finding a genetic based cure for scabies. The title of here thesis is "Functions of Scabies Mite Inactivatated Protease Paralogues". She continues a find tradition of Griffith Aikido having nearly as many PhD's as yudansha amongst its members.
4. Please Contribute to Shukan News
It is my intention to return to writing an article of interest each week in the Shukan News. I have been sidetracked by family issues recently but hopefully normal service will resume next week. Please don’t forget that it is our news and information outlet for all of Griffith Aikido so if anyone would like to write a short article, you are most welcome. Write about your own Aikido experiences; write about any other martial art or any related subject. It could be an article or a book you’ve read. That fine as long as you put the reference along with it. If you think it’s interesting we probably will too. It could be a funny story, for example when Gabby and I, as ukes on Tuesday night, clipped wings during sanningake practice. My foot brushed her shoulder mid-roll, whereupon my very graceful forward roll immediately turned to an unceremonious crash landing on the mat. Whilst it looked a little ‘keystone cops’, it was a close call and once again highlights the danger of people rolling simultaneously and the need for vigilance, self-control and safety on the mat.
Danny’s recent 40th birthday should have had numerous writers reaching for their keyboards to pen a few lines. Whilst we don’t do advertisements for other organizations, we would really like to hear about your experiences if you visit another dojo, whether it is Aikido or another martial art. Personally I would like to hear about the benefits of other healthy pursuits such as Yoga, Reiki, Massage, Tai Chi and Meditation from someone who has practiced or experienced these arts. So get to it guys and girls – share with the rest of us!
Just send your contribution to our Editor, Shirin at shirinATinternode.on.net. She is looking forward to hearing from you.
