2. Kumijo
Hi everyone
You’ll have noticed there is a current focus on kumijo in our weapon’s practice. Gabby and Paul allowed me to video them doing kumijo last week. I’m not a cinematographer of course, but If you’d like a DVD copy to assist your learning, please let me know via steve@... or at class and I’ll run a copy off for you.

3. Children’s Gradings Saturday 31/5/08
Hi Mums and Dads
I will advise parents again on Saturday which children are eligible to grade. Adults are expected to grade when they are ready for a variety of reasons. Children are a different matter, and children can choose not to grade if their confidence still needs some further development. These kids are nearly always in the AikiNippers class. I will talk to the parents of AikiNippers eligible to grade this Saturday and confirm that their child will be attending and OK to grade on 31st.
This Saturday’s classes will focus on final preparations for grading, so hope to see you all there. Please let me know on Saturday if your child feels they are eligible to grade but weren’t invited to, or alternatively were asked but are desperate not to grade J.
The following Saturday 31st will be the grading. Don’t forget there will be a $10 grading fee (includes belt and certificate). AikiNippers and Aikikids gradings will occur in their normal class time. AikiTeens grading will be included in the Aikikids timeslot. Children grading need partners (of similar size) to demonstrate their technique on. Aikido is a cooperative art, and I would strongly encourage those kids not grading to still attend and support their classmates in their efforts. The favour will then be returned when they grade.
The first Saturday after grading (7th June) is becoming a tradition, in which the class is all aikido games, with the kids getting to vote on which games they want to play. The aikido learning still happens, we just crank up the fun factor.
