Hi everyone

 

The Griffith University O-Week and Week One market days are coming up soon.  They are an opportunity for our club to be seen on campus, attract new members and keep our club going strong. 

 

Campus Life will keep some of our quite significant on-campus costs (e.g. rent of dojo) down in 2008, but only if we attend all the market days in orientation week and week one.  We can’t do that unless we have club members to staff our stall.

 

That means you.  Otherwise it falls to the six or so people who always volunteer.  That’s pretty hard across four sessions of four hours each.  If the club can’t manage to do this then our costs go up.  At some point that will impact on mat fees.  That’s just the reality of it.  Sorry.

 

It’s not too hard if there’s plenty of people on board, but we need two on the stall at any one time.  I’m expecting one 2 hour shift would then be a nice amount of time for each person.  The more the merrier and it becomes fun.  Basically, you only have to talk to prospective members about aikido, which is pretty easy, really.

 

The sessions we need club members for are:

 

O-Week

Mt Gravatt         Monday 3^rd March 10am – 2pm

 

Logan               Tuesday 4^th March 10am – 2pm

 

Nathan              Thursday 6^th March 10am – 2pm

2.     Reminder – Catherine Schnell Seminar – This Saturday and Sunday

Saturday Feb 16 - Sunday Feb 17, 2008

Catherine Sensei is a professional Aikido instructor, with a full time dojo in Melbourne from which she also operates her Personal Safety Concepts program. Sensei will be guest teacher at all classes on the weekend including the aikikids class 

Program Feb 16- Saturday:

- Aikikids  9.00 – 10.00
- Aikido  10:30 - 12:00 (open sessions)
- Personal safety 12-1:30pm (open session)

Program Feb 17 – Sunday:

Sunday AM train the trainer session- Aikido 10:30-12:00 (Griffith Aikido seniors only)

You might remember that a couple of weeks ago we were visited by a couple of guys that were looking for extras for a movie they are making.
