1. 2007 Seminar DVDs Available Now
Dear Friends,
The Master Koretoshi Maruyama 2007 Seminar DVD is now available. It is a set of 3 DVDs (3 hours in all).
If you have participated in the Seminar it will be a good reminder of the many details Sensei covered again in this seminar, and especially also the Shinkage Ryu kata (Hassei hou); if you didn't get the chance to come to the seminar, this will give you a good cross section of last year's teaching, and is as always a great teaching aid.
There is also a YUKI 4 DVD (1 hour), where sensei mainly expands on 2 of the wings of YUKI, namely 'reiki' and 'soutai hou'.
The Seminar DVD set is $ 50.00, YUKI 4 DVD is $20.00, (post free). Discount for multiple orders is available. For multiple copies of the DVD; you can take 20% off to make it a club price of $40 ea, or if you order 10 or more the cost can be reduced to $35.00 each.
If you are interested in buying the DVD, please let Jutta know as we will get them at a better price if we buy in bulk
2. Excerpt From Maruyama Sensei’s Travel Diary 2007
This Excerpt is beautifully translated and submitted by Keita Hada:
"Life is training until death. No. Even after death, the soul will become a dragon and join the millions of dragons that soar across the Earth. On the plane home, beyond the endless sea of clouds I saw a golden dragon climb up into the heavens. 'Training'. In this word I stake my life. Maruyama Sensei.”
3. Volunteers Required For Movie Roles
To everyone at Griffith Aikido,
I'm involved in making an independent feature film for which we need a number of people with martial arts experience to take part in fight scenes, as well as someone to act as a fight choreographer. The film is of the comedy / martial arts genre. The story is about a rock band (my band) planning a comeback, but then finding that they have to compete in a martial arts tournament organised by the evil CEO of a major record label in order to save themselves and other bands from destruction. Lots of very silly stuff basically, but the process of planning and making the film will be quite serious.
The time commitment will basically be a few weekends here and there between now and October. The first filming day is tentatively scheduled for Sunday 17 February. As this is a very low budget project, participation is voluntary, but participants will get DVDs of the finished product and get to attend the premiere.
A short excerpt which we filmed about a year ago can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbWbMGQyU7s. This is a very rough edit - the finished product will look and sound a lot better - but it should give you an idea of the sort of film we are planning.
If anyone is interested in being involved, or just wants more information, I would be delighted to hear from them by phone or email. I will aim to come along to one of the training nights in the next couple of weeks on order to provide some more information.
Kind regards,
Tim Kirchler
