Dear Danny Sensei and Griffith Aikido friends
Scientific rigour demands that I point out that only in very advanced mathematics can two dojos be considered "several".
I thought you might be interested, though, to hear about our second Sydney dojo. It's in St Clair in the Western suburbs (about an hour and a half travel for me each way!) We started a parents-and-kids class in October last year which was a useful experiment but ultimately not sustainable. We now have one kid's class and two adult classes a week. I teach one night and Kate Gunton (grading Shodan in Byron this month) teaches the other.
A couple of weeks ago we got everyone into gis and on Wednesday night we had five adults do their 7-kyu grading. We have about eight kids training regularly and most of them will grade in the next couple of weeks. So it's early days but a very positive start for the new dojo.
Well, I'm really looking forward to coming up to train with you all again and possibly have one or two refreshing beverages after class :)
It should be a great few days of training with the classes in Byron and the grading on Sunday.
Hope to see you on the mat
