Dear Members,
The club is running a number of introductory aikido and weapons courses
through Griffith university as well as RAW (real adventure women) 1/2 day
courses with the brisbane city council.
I'd like to encourage all members to help out with these courses as they :-
a) help with your understanding when you have to teach what you have learnt
b) financially these courses have enabled the club to remain viable
c) they add to our new student base keeping our club healthy and growing
(and kudos with the university)
For beginers courses running during regular class times, we will where
possible split the class so regular training to not to disrupted
Attached below are the courses details. NOTE the typo on our nathan aikido
course (starting on a friday?) - I hope this doesn't influence numbers too
much.
kind regards,
danny
Martial Arts
Aikido Beginners <http://www.gu.edu.au/ocs/griffithsport/#top>
Go to top
This course introduces the martial art of Aikido in a cooperative
atmosphere. The foundations of Aikido stem from both the samuarai martial
arts and meditation disciplines. Aikido promotes and teaches the concepts
of being in harmony with your opponents, rather than in conflict with them.
Aikido practice develops flexibility, coordination, concentration, improved
well-being and fitness. During the course you will learn traditional
Aikido, basic self defence, ukemi (defensive tumbling), Ki training,
breathing methods, relaxation, stretching exercises and dojo safety. On
completion of the course, students will be given the opportunity to be
tested at an internationally recognised level. Full attendance is strongly
encouraged but not mandatory. The Aikdio Weapons course is included as an
optional part of this course, at no additional cost. See
