Hi All,
I'm looking for pictures or video of the 2003 GOBA song contest
winners. My friend Lindie and her little boy won the contest that
year and I thought it would make a nice gift to find pictures or
video of them on stage. I can cover materials/shipping costs as
needed. You can contact me at geeool@... with any questions.
Thanks,
Joel
Wow! That's great. Please tell Blake I said many congratulations.
Congrats to Martin too, at Ohio State- I'm trying to remember - is he
studying music?

Lisa,
I sure hope you heal quickly! Blake just received his Eagle Award on
Saturday, escorted through the ceremony by Martin, our troop's last Eagle.
Martin is off at OSU and seems pretty happy there.
Say "Hi!" to your other half too!

I can't remember if I was under 18 or not on my first goba, however
after reading the waiver on goba's website it sounds to me as if you
just need a parent or guardian to sign for you. Thats just what I
get out of it. I'd recommend calling the goba office and asking.
The # from the goba website is 614-273-0811
The space on the application for "accompanying adult" says it is for
participants 15 and younger. Also, a parent or guardian must sign
for anyone under 18. It doesn't say 16-17 yo's need to be
accompanied, or at least I don't see it.
I remember reading in past years that children 'xx' and under must
be in sight of a parent. I think 'xx' is probably 15, but I can't
find that reference at the moment.

Hey Maureen!
How is everyone out your way? We're hanging in here, but not so good for
me - I tore my knee cartilage (again) and have to have surgery (again).
Looks like I get to rehab (again) over the winter (again)!!!!! The last
time was in 1992 - tore it on TOSRV. This time I don't know what happened
but it's a lot worse pain-wise. I can't wait to get it fixed. I see the
surgeon on Thursday and he'll schedule it then. Hoping for GOBA and/or XOBA
though - I should be well recovered by then. Looks like a pretty good route
for GOBA - some nice hills, I hope in amidst all the flat-riding.
Take care, tell Blake and Martin I said hi! And Walt too of course!
Lisa
Just when will you be 18? My guess is the GOBA people need for you
to be "accompanied" by someone over 18 if you will still be 17 in
June.
If your Grandma can't go, maybe you have other friends from past
GOBAs who would be willing to be listed as a person responsible for
you in case of emergency.
This is more to do with insurance liability than whether a particular
teenager is responsible or not. There is a space on the application
for who an under 18 rider is traveling with.

Hey,
I am looking forward to doing goba this year, but I am not sure if I
will be allowed to.
I'm 17, and on the past goba's I have done goba with my grandmother,
(I know a few of you knows us,) but this year, I am not sure if she
is going to be able to come, due to my grandfather's medical
conditons.
What I am wondering, would a 17 year old be able to ride alone on
goba? I don't remember my grandmother having to sign anything for me
at the Information tent on the first day. I am also not worried
about any medical complications (I'm trained in CPR, and First aid
from being a Vol. Firefighter.) I'm just wondering what ya'lls
advice is, knowing I may not be able to do goba next summer, due to
I will hopefully be in boot camp.
Thanks,
Shaun

From Columbus it's more like 400 miles, and a bike route would
probably wander around and add even more miles. But I don't know
where you're starting.
I just spoke with a gentleman who has a route layout from Columbus
to Nashville. He's even ridden from here to New Orleans. He said
he would email it to me and then I can post it here. Hope you're
not in a rush. I think it will be directions rather than a map.
Dave
