BlankFriends of cycling,
Those of us who were fortunate enough to be at the September 11th Citizen
Advisory Committee were treated to
a PowerPoint presentation by Bernice Cage of her draft "Shared-Use Paths
Best Practices & Pilot Treatments." It is a comprehensive, up-to-date manual
on the best and most forward-looking practices for creating multiuse trails.
Bernice is looking for feedback in the form of constructive comments and
suggestions. The deadline for submitting comments is Monday, October 9th,
unless you get an extension from Bernice.
To view the draft of the "Shared-Use Paths Best Practices & Pilot
Treatments" go to this MORPC webpage:

Practices-CompleteDocument_000.pdf
Of course, you all no doubt are aware that Bernice created the new manual on
the best practices for making our streets, roads, and highways friendly for
bicycling. You can find the "Breaking Barriers to Bicycling: Bicycle Lanes
Best Practices and Pilot Treatments" here:

tices2005Final.pdf
Bernice is currently working with the bicycling community on updating the
regional bikeway plan.
Please review the draft "Shared-Use Paths Best Practices & Pilot Treatments"
and share your comments, questions, suggestions, and compliments with
Bernice.
Thanks.
John
