Re: [gobagroup] dogs & riding

I carry pepper spry for such occasions and have had to use it several times

I just started riding last summer. My husband & I have been riding
the bike paths, but would also like to enjoy country roads. We live
outside Marysville and end up having to travel quite a distance to get
to a path. We'd like to ride around our own neighborhood once in a
while.

The only problem I have with riding on the country roads are dogs.
Just traveling via car, I've noticed there are many dogs that run out
from ditches, etc.

I'm not thrilled about having a dog chase me on a bike. I did enough
of that when I was a kid deliverying papers!

Any advice you can offer on how to stop these types of dogs?
Thanks.

I carry "halt" also but fortunately have never had to use it. Usually a loud, stern, deep voiced "NO" or "GO HOME" takes care of it. John Ruth Ann Reiner...

Unfortunately, dogs are a part of riding in rural areas. I used to carry spray but found it difficult to use on the spur of the moment so I don't anymore. Each...
