I'll add my 2 cents worth here. I've had three bents in the last 4
years. My first was a Rans V-Rex, short wheelbase, above seat
steering. It was easy to transport, quick, and fun to ride. My only
complaint was with the short wheel base you have a high bottom
bracket (pedals) and my feet had a tendency to go numb after riding
for an hour. Other than that I dearly loved it until it was rear-
ended by an in-attentive driver 2 years ago. That's another story
that most of you are familiar with.
After recovering from the accident I got a Greenspeed trike...good
for balance challenges. It's fun to ride but sits low, has a high
bottom bracket which results in toe numbing again, and is slower
than a 2 wheeler. Also has 20" wheels all around which adds to the
slower speed. I still have the trike and ride it outside during the
winter when the next bike is on the trainer inside.
Now my main ride is an Easy Racers Tour Easy. It's a great ride, but
like mentioned before, it is long. I haul it on a trunk rack on the
back of my van and if traveling long distances, I remove the front
wheel. It's easy with the quick release. As for comfort, it's the
best of the three that I've had experience with. There's a great
recumbent shop in Gahanna that carries many makes...Bicycle One.
Also Valley Bikes in Carmel, IN is another good place to check out
many styles and test rides. Good luck.
