Fwd: Paddle Navigation Training   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #98 of 447 |
Follow-up on the post below - we're looking at this Sunday for the
date. Time should be early in the morning, but not nailed down as of
yet. Area is down around Vergennes / Addison - put-in at Button Bay
Boat Access site. I will email details to those who respond. If you
have interest and want to show up, get a boat by calling EMS to
reserve one (FREE for current members) or bring your own. Hope to see
some of you out there.

I'd like to know if anyone has interest in an early morning paddle and
navigation training session on a Saturday or Sunday morning. I've
been
going out to different areas on Lake Champlain to work in some paddle
mileage, and have recently started bringing a topo map, picking and
plotting
some prominent terrain features, then paddling out to discover them.
Night
and early morning paddling can be disorienting on the water, so a
little
extra practice can go a long way. If you're interested, please let me
know
soonest. I'm looking at tentative weekends of 27-28 Aug or 10-11 Sept
as of
now.

If you need a boat, remember that one of our main sponsors, EMS of
Burlington, provides free Kayak rentals to anyone with a current GMARA
Membership card. You can also rent a paddle, pfd, mount blocks and
straps
to secure it to your roof. Call at least one week in advance to
ensure you
get a boat though.

Hope your summer and race season is going well and hope to see some
of you
out on the lake.

Greg
