If anyone is interested, I finally went mountain biking at one of the best hidden secrets of the mountain biking community, 10 times better than Mud Pond or Mobb's. There is a place 35 mins north of downtown Montreal in Ste-Anne -des-Lacs. I went yesterday (yes even in the rain and wind) and had a blast! There are over 100 kms of trails. There was 1 inch of snow, but it was absolutely gorgeous. Biked for 3 hours on rolling up and downs and  didn't even get to the steep climbs closer to the ski hills, which you can get to with the trails. All single track with rock gardens and slabs (jumps too), and didn't even cover 1/10 of the territory. There are lots of lakes as well, and it would be a perfect place for an adventure race.
