Hey all - the Green Mountain Club has a page talking about how and where to hike during our lovely Vermont mud season.  I wandered around the Cotton Brook area this past weekend and its pretty dry already (with some patches of snow).  Not the elevation gain you'd get summitting the Hump, but if you're looking to get out, its a good area.  Don't forget, no matter where you are, to follow the guidelines they list in order to not wreck the trail.  One that might not be obvious  "Walk through the mud, not around it!"
