Congratulations to Team Wicked NEARA for their first place finish in last weeks Ultimate White Mountain Race. Teams Eastern Mountain Sports and Team Endurance Adventure.com gave them a race for their money but the defending champions repeated once again. We are about 3 weeks away from the Ultimate Adirondack Adventure Race and about 1 1/2 weeks away till registration closes. There are about 10 spots still available to race. This will be the last chance for teams to sign up to compete for the Championship Grand Prize of round trip airfare and entrance into Coast to Coast Challenge in Costa Rica next spring.
So we had a great race in the Whites with a 7:20pm race start time, immediately following the race briefing. The course took teams of 2, 3 or 4 racers on a lengthy paddle through some white water as the rain continued to fall as did the sun. Without a moon to guide the way, racers then had to navigate a tricky bike section through some power lines and single track before then hit the climb. Those who did not navigate this section efficiently saw a long bike climb from the go most pushing their way up hill. But those who followed the right path were then treated to a fantastic downhill single track section.

A little bike road work to a drop zone where racers were then ask to climb up a rock face. Some more bike work another drop zone and a scramble to the rappel for a 100 + ft rappel. Two sections of ropes in a single 12 hour course.

Back on the bikes to TA 2 where teams really had to choose the route correctly. This time we transition to foot and the trekking begins. The Ultimate White Mountains takes place just there, in the White Mountains as racers found themselves facing some more vertical as they had to summit two peaks before crossing the finish line.
As with all our 12 hour races, two courses take place simultaneously, allowing new racers to compete and run next to season veterans, crossing the finish line and intermixing throughout the entire course together.
