If you let me watch your morning routine -- getting up, getting
dressed, eating breakfast, getting yourself to work or school -- I
can make some pretty accurate predictions about how you train when
practicing martial arts. Your everyday habits reflect your martial
arts habits.
Follow my line of thought....
There are many areas in your life that are in alignment. For example,
if we could take a peek inside your cupboards in your kitchen, we
could learn a lot about how you ... keep your bedroom. If one area is
messy and disorganized, it's a fairly good bet that the other will
lack organization as well.
The same can be said for the tidiness of one's bedroom and how one
keeps his or her locker or desk at school.
Habits and Your Martial-Arts Practice SessionsSo, how does your
martial-arts practice session fare?
One aspect that we could take a look at is how hurried you are in the
morning.
This morning, I had a few errands to run. As I drove the car down a
fairly busy street, I noticed the masses on their way to work. A
large number of them were trying to accomplish more than one task at
the same time: ...

Martial artists are known for making use of pressure points in a
fight. Whether applying a joint lock or pressing a spot on the body
with a finger, martial practitioners can inflict pain, at will.
They press a spot on the arm, maybe another behind the ear, and their
opponents howl in pain.
For the purpose of this discussion and this martial-arts article
only, a pressure point will be any point on the body, other than a
vulnerable target, that when pressed with a finger, causes pain.
(This modified definition will suit our purpose.)
We could argue that an eyeball or groin is a pressure point. After
all, press your finger into someone's eyeball and you'll get that
yelp of agony.
Still, I am more interested in the almost secret pressure points.
These pressure points are great for:
* Striking with a phoenix eye fist (one raised knuckle) at a
particular spot, possibly to end the fight in one move.
* Pressing a particular point, to control your opponent more after
snapping on a wrist lock. Use the pressure point to move your
opponent....

Hi I would just like to know I have read in the latest copy of Blitz
and have been reading about Shihan Karetisan but have known all along
that anyone can teach with a false black belt rank. i just wanted to
know what you think about it being a member of GKR.
Mixed martial arts is a fast growing sport, but the amount of
information about betting on mixed martial arts is very scarce. As a
professional sports bettor I've learned the ins and outs of mixed
martial arts betting in the past 6 months, and I have come up with
three betting strategies that are very successful, and will help you
profit every year.
Underdog bettingBetting on underdogs has always been a great strategy
in sports betting, and in mixed martial arts this strategy is even
more successful. In high profile fights, such as large UFC bouts, the
underdog is always undervalued and a great bet. Stay away from large
favorites, and you'll be in a great spot to profit.
Bet against the publicThe majority of sports bettors lose money, so
betting against them is always a great idea in sports. In mixed
martial arts betting, this also works very well because the sport is
so new to the mainstream. Many new bettors are jumping at the chance
to bet on fights, and they really have no idea what they're doing. If
you want to make some good money with MMA, make sure you are not
betting on the same fighters that the general public is as well....

Does non-contact point sparring actually decrease your ability to
defend yourself in a real situation?
After all, you're pulling punches, avoiding eye gouges, bone
breaking, wrist locks and the like. How can you learn to defend
yourself when you're restricting your options?
And what if the fight ends up on the ground? All your skills at
dancing around in a padded helmet isn't going to help you get out of
a brutal rear mount arm crank!
Or Is It...?
If you take a good, objective look at it...
Sparring May Be The Most Perfect Martial Arts Exercise Ever
I won't lie to you'I'm in favor of sparring. I think there are no
other exercises in Martial Arts that can accomplish as much in as
little time as good sparring practice.
Here's why...
(And bear in mind, I had to keep this article short to prevent it
from turning into a book-length discourse!)
What If You Could Combine All Your Training Needs Into One Easy
Exercise?
Think I'm exaggerating? Sparring practice improves a wide variety of
essential Martial Arts requirements all at once....

Kung Fu is not the only form of martial arts. The Europeans had their
own martial arts history in the form of sword arts. In some of the
Western cultures, sword arts are just as recognized as martial arts in
many of the Eastern cultures. "The Art of War," which is the literal
meaning of martial arts, is not restricted to what we normally see on
television or in movies.
During 12th Century Europe, the sword arts flourished in the form of
many fencing schools throughout the continent. Many of these schools
produced numerous manuals on the sword arts that have survived the
ages. These manuals have proven to be valuable resources as martial
arts history of western sword arts. Without them, many of the finer
techniques might have been lost.
The western sword arts weren't limited to blades alone: many aspects
included grappling and wrestling techniques as well. Other weapons
(daggers, axes, pole arms, and shields) were also a part of the
training. A wide variety of swords were created to accommodate the foot
soldier and mounted rider....
