GIL MAKES IT BEFORE HIM
There's no question that Gil Hodges belongs in
the HOF. I think that Steve Garvey, who idolized Gil
Hodges in the years that he was a bat boy for the
Brooklyn Dodgers, also belongs in the HOF. I have a (brand
new) Yahoo club called (cleverly) "Steve Garvey
belongs in the HOF" if anyone wants to peek.

ello Hodges fans!<br><br>I noticed something is
watching Field of Dreams. It seems as there are a few
hints of Hodges life in the movie. First, and most
obvious the mentioning of his name by young Archie
Graham....of all the HOF'ers, they could have mentioned, the
mentioned Gil Hodges! Second is the mentioning of 1969
(Mets World Series), and when Costner goes back in time
to see the older Doc Graham, the year is 1972
(Hodges death), as can be seen on the car license plate.
<br><br>Am I the only person to have seen this?<br><br>Let

hat there are other Gil fans out there. Has anyone
notices some hints of Hodges in the movie "Field of
Dreams"? First, of course, his name is mentioned when
young Graham goes to the field. There is mention of
1969, and the year that Kevin Costner goes back to see
Doc Graham is 1972 (as seen on the car license
plate). <br>What do you think? Am I crazy, or was the
director of the movie or author a Hodges fan?<br>-Tres

ere we go again! I'm certain taht we are all
once again disappointed with today's outcome. it
sounds like sour grapes, but how can you view the
criteria used in this process and then select Cepeda over
Hodges?? I guess Gil's life-long example is easy to
overlook when compared to anothers fall and redemption.
Their stats were very similar but Hodges' example and
reputation were again not taken into consideration. I'll
continue to support this site and send out my letters next
year--maybe the millenium will be the charm! Let's not give
up this noble cause!!<br><br>Jim D
arch 2nd, Cross your fingers and your toes. Say
an extra little prayer tonight for Gil. I had hoped
we would have had more support on this site, but it
never materialized. So I guess with the small group of
devoted fans assembled, we will have to wish a little
harder!!! GIL HODGES RULES!!!!! HALL OF FAME, HERE COMES

or the second year, I have sent letters to all
15 members of the Veteran's Committee to elect Gil
Hodges to the Hall of Fame. Long overdue and we must get
together and remind this Committee that this vote is long
overdue. Let's get the job done this year!!!
lready sent this snippet to Joe. Thought that
I'd share here...After McGwire launched #62 I flipped
to the Astros-Reds game during a
commercial.<br><br>Astros voice Milo Hamilton said "McGwire is the best
first baseman I can recall since Gil Hodges,<br>both
are big, quiet men."<br><br>Milo also mentioned that
former Dodger Clyde King flew down to be at Milo's
Birthday this year.
am receiving it and I want (should of earlier)
to thank you for the 4 pitchers that Gil knocked
around that day in 1950. I knew Warren Spahn was
involved but no idea on the other three. Regarding the
HOF...I never want to see it whereby entrance to it is
like the other pro sports put players in..Gil Hodges
is like Maz and the ungodly time it took to put
Nellie in. Every year I go nuts when the so call
knowledgeable sports writers do they voting. They have very
space in their head for the history of the game. I got
a lot to say....Catch ya..Ed
OIN THIS CLUB AS A TRIBUTE TO GIL AND SO I KNOW
YOU ARE OUT THERE MAILING YOUR LETTERS TO THE VET
COMMITTEE TO ATTAIN COOPERSTOWN FOR THIS SUPER ATHLETE AND
OUTSTANDING INDIVIDUAL WHO STILL EFFECTS THE LIVES OF MANY.
