Re: [GIL HODGES HALL OF FAME SUPPORT] Gil

After being raised by a parent who translated baseball as a way of life & had a
deication to the game & the Brooklyn Dodgers, it saddens me to echo the words
below.
How ever ,eho them I do and at the top of my lungs.
The game of baseball has changed from the heyday of 16 teams and a mutual
committment between the fans & players. It has changed , in my opinion, greatly
through the effortds of writers who once promoted the devotion to teams &
players but now look to gain a bigger by-line through "scooping" the
shortcomings & frailties of the players.
This starts the dominoes falling, as the players "see" what a vicious busness
they dedicated their entire lifes efforts to & become demanding in the "SHORT
TERM" (as is the rest of society).
The next domino is the owner (historically the greedy, insecure moron) who jsut
wants to raise the price of tickets.
More & more dominos fall - then we get to the commissioner of baseball himself
- Mr. Bud Selig - it's kind of sad that I won't be around when history has had
ample time to scrutinize his efforts at the helm - PETE ROSE & JOE JACKSON -
SHOULD BE IN BASEBALL'S HALL OF FAME - for their baseball accomplishments-
irregardless of their social contributions.

GIL HODGES SHOULD BE IN THE HALL OF FAME BECAUSE HE - WAS A US MARINE WWII
DECORATED HERO - ANCHORED THE BROOKLYN DODGERS AT FIRST BASE FOR 10 YEARS (
driving in the both Dodger runs in game 7 - 1955) - WAS COMMITTED TO HIS
BROOKLYN COMMUNITY - LED THE NY METS TO THEIR FIRST WS CHAMPIONSHIP.....THESE
ARE JUST THE HIGHLIGHTS.

AS A THINKING ADULT - I CHOOSE TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH THOSE BASEBALL FANS WHO
BELIEVE THAT #14 IS ALREADY A HALL OF FAMER & I CHOOSE TO NOT WANT ANY
ASSOCIATION WITH THOSE "EXPERTS" WHO THINK OTHERWISE...MIGHT SOUND HARSH & MY
WAY OR THE HIGHWAY - BUT LIKE ANOTHER LEGEND OF SPORTS USED TO SAY - IT'S
TELLING IT LIKE IT IS.

GOOD BYE MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL & HELLO TO THE SCRUBBEANIES FROM WHENCE MLB WAS
SPAWNED..................NEIGHORBORHOOD & TOWN BALL.

I PREDICT THAT WITHIN 2 GENERATIONS MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL WILL BE TRYING TO
WOO AN AUDIENCE FROM THE PROFESSIONAL PICK UP STIX GAME.

of Fame....and you know what?.......I really don't care. The
institution is run by idiots for idiots as far as I am concerned, and
I will no longer pay attention to it. He will always be a true Hall of
Famer in my book and that is all that matters to me at the end of the
day. My own personal Hall of Fame has Gil enshrined. I don't
recognize the validity of Cooperstown any longer. In fact, it's a
stretch to even recognize the 2007 version of Major League Baseball at
this point as well. I'm done with the absurdity of it all....
