I couldn't agree more, but what bothered me the most was Joe Morgan's
crack about "lowering standards". Lowering standards? Seven
consectutive 100 rbi seasons, the most rbi's in the 1950's, the second
most homeruns in the 1950's, three gold gloves, 8 all-star games, 7
world series, 6 seasons with 30 or more homeruns, not to mention the
man's integrity (what other player has ever had churchs pray for him?).
Lower standards? Just what ARE the standards, then.
