(near a Home depot), right?

speaking of which... i just got this email today about friday night...
"DHB and RRB CD release party june 24 at jakes
DHB-What more can I say about this band Once you see them once you can never get
enough.Their mesmerizing style combining brilliant original songs with an
occasional cover thrown in always elates the crowd young and old.Since 1986 I
have watched Donna's music grow from simple country covers to the now hard
hitting original blues based infused roots rock music with powerful lyrics
backing backing up the brilliant music.Spread the gospel of DHB if you haven't
seen them and you love good music what are you waiting for?As a recent first
timer stated "DHB is much too good to be seen in small bars and venues see them
now while you still can"
they did a bad thing and got rid of their table...
shame on them. we will be playing at barnicles and the highlander tonight. if
you want to coordinate with us... call me at 215.200.6720

Purchased an Aeroglide air hockey table last year around Christmas.
I think the folks who clean our house tried to clean the table and
suddenly the puck doesn't glide anymore. The table feels "rough"
rather than smooth and you can hear the puck "grind" over several
spots.
I've popped a small nail through every air hole and feel that I'm
getting pretty good flow but...
What is the proper way to clean the air hockey table surface to get
the "glide" back? Or, if it is necessary, how should I go about
refinishing the surface?
Any suggestions? If so, please respond back to
cohncons@....
Thanks.
Many people have been emailing me from all over the country asking how to clean a table in order to make it flow properly… so I thought I would share this with you guys.
always use isopropyl rubbing alcohol, preferably sprayed from a spray bottle, but many players simply partially cover the opening and toss it onto the table surface. ALWAYS do this with the air on... otherwise when you symmetrically wipe it off, you will mash the dirt and dust down into the holes of the table. Make sure that you do not clean the inside of the rails, as they need a build up of grime to grip the puck in order for it to play well. An unbroken in table (or clean rails) will make the puck respond with an unpredictable bounce based on the spin of the puck and the lack of proper friction. 2nd choice for cleaning the surface would be Windex, but this is not recommended. If the table is really nasty, do this a few times before you even bother testing it out.
as for tables which this cannot help, the only other answer which i have been made aware of is to use a dremel with a 105’ bit on each of the holes (4048) for an eight foot dynamo (always with the air on). the alcohol should probably be sufficient though. you should always keep the table covered with a tarp or something waterproof, to keep dust and broken water pipes from destroying it. don't forget to tight all the screws as well.
And of course do not forget to lightly sand the pucks on a flat surface.
Just an FYI... we are less than 2 weeks away from the biggest weekend
of the year for AirHockey...
March 24-26th at the Riviera Hotel on the Las Vegas strip !!
Kill 2 birds with 1 stone and come out and play some AirHockey in a
great city

Air Hockey Forever
2006-Apr-12 by Laughcalvin
Jeff Wells has a great review of Eric Anderson's "Way of the Puck.," a doc about
air hockey and philosophy. Man, that Wells is a hellava' writer:
"These aren't exactly rugged individualists, but guys with a certain consistency
and tenacity. Not the kind of men whom anyone would call intense or magnetic or
start- ling, but men with an undeniable passion and dignity. And maybe a certain
sadness or resignation thrown in, marital responsibilities and the day-to-day
slog being what they are.
And yet they share an obvious, unshakable, undeniable belief in air hockey as
some kind of transcendent pursuit...something that sustains their spirit, gets
them through the rough patches, puts a special kind of English on their
existence, makes life feel whole (or at least gives it a certain weight and
dimension) and worth living."
More so from the audience perspective because air hockey isn't that recognized
or celebrated...far from it...but it's their own thing, played as it is in those
little rooms, and they're happy with that. Or happy enough."
Wow, I remember how intense games could get as a kid and over a few beers as an
'adult.' Looks good. Try to check it out.
it has come to my attention that next week atlanta will be invaded by
two yankees. sir goran mitic and sir michael rosen will be positioned
in two key points of the city. mitic, from chicago, and currently
ranked 14th in the world... will be invading kennesaw mountain, a key
vantage point in the ongoing civil war. rosen, at 23rd, will likely be
stationed barely north of the capital, in the lenox/sidney marcus
quadrant.
to intercept these darth invaders from our great land of georgia, i
will position myself in roswell, to keep an eye in both directions.
informally, all are challenged to either challenge or defend, both rank
and territory. due to this unsettling threat, i will arrive late
tuesday via the steel horse, and will be on guard until the following
monday. i summon all troops to heed the call of the almighty table, in
this most unanticipated gathering of northern cavaliers, and obvious
territorial challenge. i call out don james, blade, and john mitchell,
to meet me at the forefront of battle, in this time of grave
territorial instability. what i have learned in the north, will be
used with great force. there will be no survivors. by the puck, we
shall live and die.

thanks to don james and john mitchell for reffing and of course ...
thank you goran mitic for playing a voluntary match starting at 11:35pm
at john mitchell's house in atlanta GA. the match ended about 2:30am.
the scores say more than i really can... but i have to say that goran
was quick to shut off any thoughts of a cross/LWU attack... thanks
billy... Razz
i seemed to score pretty consistently with all of the "B shots" that he
likely wasn't expecting. the RWU/cut was working quite well too. my
defense was quite determined... more determined it seemed to me at the
time, than my offense. goran, when put on the wire, always steps it up
two notches and no matter what, has a way of keeping a player from
getting over confident. even winning 3 sets to one, i still, at times
felt like i wasn't in control of the match and was relying solely on my
defense while fishing for shots. i hate to say it, but it's true.
that night he had a gear that at important times, i was too
conservative, to dig deep enough to find. that is what won him the
match... i saw it again a few hours later while he was playing rosen.
get him on the wire... and booM.
goran is a soarin'...
thanks for the match and sorry for the late post... (results got left
in GA) yada yada...
i am already looking forward to being a little more prepared and
playing him again. also, i look forward to some critique from mike
rosen and don james. goran is certainly, above all... a most honorable
opponent. watch out danny...
the marcH is on...

indeed. to make things worse, i drove by gettysburg 12 hours into the
ride on the way back to philly, after the north carolina mountains and
virginia...

If you have the weather for it, this is the coolest (no pun intended)
air hockey table I've ever seen!
http://www.wisegeek.com/introducing-table-hockey-on-real-ice.html
Plus, most of the time air hockey doesn't include a Zamboni, and
everyone loves a Zamboni.
Melanie
phil (founder of the usaa) told me that the indians actually at a
similar game that they played before we took all of their toys and land
away...

Sat Jan 27, 2007 10:24 am (PST) i know mike rosen and company are in full swing with a major promotional event with the atlanta braves... let's get an update.
The event ~ GA Transplant Foundation's 2007 Tom Glavine's Spring Training was held in The 755 Club
which is at the top of Turner Field where the Braves play. It was quite a success with double the participating Air Hockey athletes this year. Staff included Robert Johnson (GA player and table logistics coordinator), John Mitchel GAHA President and air hockey table donor, Blade Brown (GA Player and enterainment staff), and myself as featured entertainment.
We had at least 36 games played in 3 hours with guests begging to play more even as we were closing down the event! My signed puck and photo combination went for $50 in a 3 person bidding war (up from 1 bid of $25 last year). It was a very big step for GA Air Hockey and the foundation Director and staff personally thanked John and I for all that we did.
The biggest thanks goes out to Robert Johnson and his father who took the time to move John's air hockey table to the event and back to his home so very carefully. It was great to meet his lovely wife Robin at the event. Both he and John look like they'll team up again to make his table part of the event each year now.
