No. 11 Volleyball Advances to NCAA Sweet 16 in Hawaii
Jackets defeat Florida A&M in three games

Lynnette Moster recorded 16 kills on 28 attempts, hit .571 and had three
blocks as the No. 11 Georgia Tech volleyball team defeated Florida A&M, 3-0
(30-25, 34-22, 30-25) in the NCAA 2nd Round match in Atlanta, Ga. With the
win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 33-3 on the season while Florida A&M
concludes its season with a 27-4 overall record. Georgia Tech advances to
the NCAA Sweet 16 for the first time in school history and will travel to
Honolulu, Hawaii to play in the Hawaii Regional on Friday, Dec. 12.

"What can I say except we are really excited," said head coach Bond
Shymansky. "I think sometime you work hard all season and create a road for
yourself in the NCAA Tournament. We created a really good road this year. To
play at home the first two rounds and to play teams like Alabama A&M and
Florida A&M were great opportunities for us to get better as a team and to
move on as a team, which is real important. We're so excited about going to
Hawaii and it's not about the mai-tais and the hula dancing, it's about the
volleyball. To get to play on the national stage and to get to take on
better and better opponents as we go, our team thrives on tough challenges
and this will be a tough challenge."

Tech's offense was once again stellar, as the team hit .426 in the match. In
addition to Moster, Lauren Sauer notched 16 kills and hit .423, and
Alexandra Preiss posted 16 kills and hit .560 while Kele Eveland recorded
seven kills and hit .462 and Jayme Gergen had six kills and hit .385. The
Jackets recorded 64 kills in the match as Eveland recorded 50 assists in the
match.

Defensively, the Jackets had 49 digs in the match as Marisa Aston, who
recorded her 1,000th dig against Alabama A&M last night, posted a match-high
12 followed by Jennifer Randall who had 10 and Eveland who tallied seven. At
the net, Tech recorded 9.5 blocks, as Preiss had five, and Moster, Gergen
and Eveland each notched three.

In the first game, the Jackets cruised to an early 9-2 lead on superb
blocking and hitting and continued to roll, winning the first game, 30-25.
In game two, Florida A&M held a 27-24 lead and had three match points,
before Tech tied the score at 32-32 and held on to win, 34-32. The final
game, the Jackets maintain their momentum building a 14-10 lead and went on
to win, 30-25

The Rattlerettes were led by Andreina Ruiz who had 13 kills and 11 digs
