Sorry if you get this twice, but since we may eventually post all
GCAT emails here...

Thanks to the few of you who came out last night, but to the rest of
you, turnout was low again.

Brief recap:
1. Dues will be paid on a calendar year basis from now on. You will
be notified in January if your dues are not current, by either email
or phone call, or both. Members not paying dues by March 1 will be
dropped.

2. A new triathlon is being put on in 2007 by Team Magic (www.team-
magic.com) from Birmingham. They put on the Powerman series and
tother big events and are very accomlished at putting on quality
events. Race date is scheduled as May 5, 2007 and location is the
Gulf State Park pavillion. Information on the event from their
website:

NEW FOR 2007: JOIN US AT THE BEACH IN MAY!

Team Magic has a NEW triathlon on the Alabama Gulf Coast. The event
is hosted by the cities of Orange Beach and Gulf Shores Alabama. We
are very excited about working with these great communities on what
promises to be a great kick-off to our triathlon season! Race
distances will be a 1000 yard gulf swim, 20 mile bike, and 5 mile
run. More information on this event will be available soon, but
online registration is open now.

3. The Gulf Coast Half-Ironman is May 12 at Panama City Beach.
Registration was still open at last check.

4. During February or March, we will try to have a GCAT hosted
training ride in Fairhope to test-ride the new Grand Man course.
This will probably be a ride/run training brick. Later, tentatively
in late April or maybe in May, we will probably have a practice
or 'training tri', including a swim leg, in the same location.

5. Remember the new Yahoo group for GCAT, at
http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/gcatri/. Sign up now to get
current information and updates on rides, events, etc.

The first Monday of January falls on Jan 1., so the next GCAT meeting
will be on January 8. Mark your calendars now and plan to be there.
