soccer league starting at the quaries   Message List

Hi soccer fans,

Happy new year! Hope you all had a relaxing holiday season.

Now that winter in Austin is over, it's time to start thinking about
soccer again (I grew up in Alaska, Wyoming, Wisconsin, and Minnesota;
this in not winter :-)

I just found out about an 8 v 8 soccer league (thanks Chris) that is
starting at the Hyde Park Quarries (that's where we have been playing)
on Sunday, March 25th. The format is 2 30-minute halves and the
season is 8 weeks long. The cost per team is $320. That means about
$25/person if we have ~12 players on a team.

I'd like to put together a Gateway team for this league (not sure if
we have enough to support 2 whole teams at this point). I think we'd
need at least 12 people for a team...I know not everyone will be able
to make it to the game every week and we'll need subs. And the
annoucement said it's a men's league, but I think it would be fine if
the the women in our group wanted to play on our team.

So let's do this...in the next week or so reply to this list and let
me know if you're interested in being on the team. Basically you
would need to commit to attending ~75% of the Sunday afternoon games
between March 25th and May 13th...and pay ~$25 up front. I'll keep a
list of who's interested (include your name, phone, and email in your
reply) and I'll post a message in a couple weeks with the result. And
we'll probably get together for a few Sunday afternoon scrimages
starting mid/late February to get back into shape and prepare for the
season.

I think that should cover it. Let me know if you have questions,

Matt
