COSTA DO SAUIPE, Brazil (AP) - Top-seeded Gaston Gaudio was upset by
qualifier Olivier Patience of France 6-2, 6-2 in the second round of
the Brazil Open on Wednesday.
Patience, ranked 139th in the world, needed only 51 minutes to
defeat the ninth-ranked Gaudio, the former French Open champion.
The Frenchman advanced to only his second career ATP quarter-finals,
the last being in Estoril in 2004.
Fifth-seeded Juan Ignacio Chela of Argentina defeated Italy's Potito
Starace 6-4, 7-5, and sixth-seeded Nicolas Massu of Chile beat
Spain's Fernando Vicente 3-6, 7-6 (3), 6-3.

is thought to attend the Rolling Stones show tonight, according to a
radio station I'm listening right now.
