I will keep all of you updated. Tell me if this
time is okay. Later!!
nly best of the best? I could go forever on
that! Best of the best of the best of the best of the
best... :)
Here's something copied directly from the
Red Sox Newsflash mailing. Hope you
enjoy...

Dear Red Sox Fans,

It was one for the record
books.

Nomar Garciaparra joined elite company Monday night
with his historic
performance against the Seattle
Mariners. Here's a quick peek where
you will find the
Sox shortstop's name in both the Red Sox and
Major
League Record Books after the Mariners game on May
10.

MAJOR LEAGUE DISTINCTIONS:

- It's only the ninth
time that an American League player -- and the
eleventh time any Major League player -- has hit two grand
slams in
one game.

- Nomar Garciaparra
becomes the second player in the Majors this
season
to hit two grand slams in a game, joining Fernando
Tatis of
St. Louis (4/23/99 vs. Los Angeles, two
grand slams in one inning).

- His 10 RBI in a
game is the most ever by a Major League shortstop.
The American League record for RBI in a game is held
by Tony Lazzeri
of the New York Yankees
(5/24/36). Mark Whiten (9/7/93) and Jim
Bottomley
(9/16/24), both of the St. Louis Cardinals, share the Major
League record of 12 RBI in a game.

- The last
time a Major League player had 10 or more RBI in a
game
was on September 7, 1993, when Mark Whiten
hit 4 home runs and had 12
RBI.

RED SOX
RECORDS:

- Nomar Garciaparra is the third Red Sox player to
hit two grand slams
in a game. The other two Red
Sox to hit two grand slam homers in a
game were
Jim Tabor at Philadelphia (7/4/39) and Rudy York at
St.
Louis (7/27/46).

- He becomes the fourth Red Sox
to have 10 RBI in a game. The other
three
players to have 10 RBI in a game are Rudy York (7/27/46),
Norm
Zauchin (5/27/55), and Fred Lynn
(6/18/75).

- He is the second Sox shortstop ever to hit three
home runs in a
game. John Valentin was the first to
accomplish the feat (6/2/95 vs.
Seattle).

-
Monday's game was the first Sox three-homer game since May
30, 1997,
when Mo Vaughn hit three dingers against
the New York Yankees.

- The Red Sox have hit
241 grand slams in their 99 years, including
163
at Fenway and three at the old Huntington Avenue
Grounds.

- Ted Williams holds the Red Sox club record with
17 grand slams in
his career.

PERSONAL
BESTS:

- Nomar Garciaparra went 3-4, with three home runs
(two grand slams,
one two-run home run), 10 RBI,
three runs scored, and one walk. He
extended his
current hitting streak to 13 games.

- The grand
slams were the second and third of Nomar
Garciaparra's
career. His first grand slams came on 9/2/98, also
against the
Seattle Mariners.

- Last night was
Nomar Garciaparra's first career three-homer
game.

- The 10 RBI was a career-high for Nomar
Garciaparra. His previous
high was five RBI, which he has
done three times.

GO NOMAR!!!
ay to go, Nomar!!! Three homers is a feat in itself, but 2 grand slams, WOW!!!!
Hope he keeps it up. Makes for some exciting games. Now i know why he's the
best of the best!!!
think the cheering for Mo was just being
polite. They went crazy the whole series whenever he got
out. I think it's great the Sox swept. I mean, it's
like, even though we could be better with Mo, we can
still kick his butt from here back to Anaheim!!
ello Everyone. So what did you think of Mo's
return to Boston? The fans really accepted him with open
arms. I was surprised I was thinking that they were
gonna boo him. Even though they cheered when he stepped
up to bat, they did cheer even louder when Pedro
struck him out. Oh, and a great job by Pedro, with a new
career high 15 strikeouts.

~Nikki
ello Everyone!!! I would love to host some chats
here in the future, I just need to know the best times
for everyone. Maybe right after every game? You guys
tell me. Post a message or emial me at
glycerine_nkd@...

Nikki
think they brought up Daubach for Merloni. I
heard that Daubach plays outfield 2. I'd rather see
them put Daubach in the outfield, bring Merloni back
up, and send Nixon down. I mean, he may be waking up
offensively now, but Merloni's still better than him.
I
read Nomar's comments 2. He was really upset about it!
Poor guy, he loves the game so much and doesn't
realize his team's got an idiot for a GM.
ey what's up with demoting Lou Merloni? So the
papers say that he was an extra infielder isn't the
saying "the more the better"? I personally think that he
was a great player and does not deserve this. Nomar
would agree whole heartedly. I read his comments and he
was not to pleased about the whole thing. I wanna
know what all of you think.

~Nikki~
e don't have a set time to chat here, but if
people are willing to come I would be able to set up a
good time with everyone. Tell me the best times for
you and I will try to arrange a time to chat once or
twice a week. Until then catch me on AIM screen name:

kay Guys, let's settle this. Mo is way bigger
than Nomar so he might have some advantage over him
there, but not by much. Nomar is definatly the better
player. And he always will be. For one thing Nomar plays
for the love of the game and he is not greddy for
money like Mo. I am not saying that Mo isn't a good
player, just that he isn't as good and never will be as
good as Nomar.

~Nikki
oin the one and only Mo Vaughn Club it is the only one so please join even if
you like Nomar still join and you can have a debate like you are having now.
o is good at slugging. Period. Nomar has, first
of all, speed! He can cover a ton of ground around
the infield/outfield. He can dive. He can sprint. If
Mo tried to dive for a ball, he would hurt
something. He can't steal bases or stretch a single into a
double. Although he can drive in runs, Nomar is a much
better all-around player.
on't get me wrong, Mo's a good player and all, but NOMAR is the GREATEST!!
Don't worry he'll be just as GREAT if not GREATER without Mo. No offense, but
you'll see.
ts called Nomar Garciaparra's fan club and i want more people to join. Anyway
does anyone think nomar will have the kind of year he had last year without mo?
