Re: [garandon] 2009 brevets

I hope my curiosity wasn't interpreted as criticism over that hotel choice.
I didn't take it that way and I didn't mean for my email to sound defensive. I told Andy that one shortcoming of the course was that I never could find a good motel to use. I kept hoping someone would build one where the course crossed I-75 near Ringgold. The mileage would have been about right (~235) and there was both a Waffle House and truck stop restaurant located at that exit.

Actually that Waffle House represents a little local randonneurring history as that's where Kevin Kaiser bailed on his first 600km. As he sat there all alone that night waiting for his wife to come pick him up I wonder if he had any idea what he would eventually accomplish in the sport. BTW, he rode and finished the Raleigh 600km a week or two after that and then was the first finisher in a large local contingent that attended BMB later that summer - 2002.

I hope my curiosity wasn't interpreted as criticism over that hotel choice. It's just that, at least for me and apparently Mike too, those sort of experiences are perhaps a bit more poignant. My sincere thanks to Mike, Dave and now Andy for providing the chance those fond memories!
I don't know if I'll be able to get up there for any of your rides this season, but I sure hope so.
