Re: [garandon] 2009 brevets

Turnaround at the same hotel that reportedly had heart shaped waterbeds? Did they really rent by the hour?
Penny selected our rooms the first year and she reported that of the available rooms that she surveyed, one room had a heart-shaped bed while another had a mirror on the ceiling. They were not included in the set of rooms she reserved. As it turned out only three riders opted to spend the night; the majority rode straight thru after taking a break to shower and eat.

When I rode across country in 1978 I considered spending my first night in a motel that advertised hourly rates and "girls in your room". I was outside Richmond VA and it was pouring down rain. The woman at the front desk wouldn't quote me a rate without the girls and I couldn't afford the $20 / hour advertised rate.

The hotel was pretty bad, but that ride thru the pocket was worth it!
