Paul,

Is this a statement of fact made from personal knowledge?  Is owning a
trademark the same as owning the sport?  I don't think it is.  In
addition, be clear that Para does not own the trademark, USFF is the
registered owner.

This chain of events, as it now seems to be developing, would be a major breakthrough for the sport of futsal in the U.S. I've known Para since 1983 and have never seen him do anything with the sport other than maneuver for personal gain.

Its pretty hard to have any authority over a sport that someone else has a claim to ownership.

Paul,

I apologize for the inaccurate information. I was told Saturday
evening (before talking to you sunday) by a "federation guy" that
Alex had indeed stopped Keith from doing the clinic. This person
talks to Alex on a regular basis and because I know him personally I
had no reason to doubt what he was saying. I should have checked
with John Sciore to find out the true story. Keith did do a one hour
clinic for 65 kids.

Sorry about the miscommunication, I take full responsibilty for
not "checking my sources." Otherwise, it was good seeing you again.
My U-16 girls lost 4-2 in a very good final to a very good Kansas
Select team. We had them under the gun for a good part of the game,
however we just couldn't finish.

Hopefully, everyone can work on developing futsal in this country in the most effective way. I'm glad to hear that USFF is improving. I thought that might happen once they had to earn business rather than expect it.

That's what I thought.  USSSA is an affiliate of US Soccer.  Super F
League is a member of USSSA.

The emergence of the Super F League has created a great new dimension for Futsal in the U.S., and I hope they become the principal coordinator of the sport in cooperation with U.S. Soccer and FIFA.

Now that Super F has now also developed a plan for futsal in the United States and it also is an affiliate member of the US Soccer Federation, now US Soccer must arbitrate between USFF and Super F and play a more central role in the development of the sport of futsal.

Juan Carlos Ceriani Futsal Cup Set for Tampa Oct. 28-30

TAMPA, Fla. (1-12-05) - The Tampa Soccer and Futsal Academy will be hosting the Juan Carlos Ceriani Cup Oct. 28-30 in celebration of the sport's 75th birthday.

Futsal was created by Ceriani in 1930 in Uruguay and is becoming more popular by the day as a world sport.

The Ceriani Cup is sanctioned by the U.S. Court Soccer Federation and the Asociaci�n Mundial de Futsal (AMF). Over 100 foreign countries have been invited to send teams. The matches will take place in air-conditioned gyms throughout the Tampa Bay Area.

What does the Super F League charge for Registration Fees to play in the league such as Player Card fees, Coaching fees, and insurance costs. With membership do you get any additional service and league management tools such as website assistance and scheduling programs?

Can you play in National Tournament, if you are not a member of the Super F League? How much does it cost?

I guess that the Super F league is the first league that has sought and obtained the sanctioning of the US Soccer Federation- open and notorious use of the word futsal. Just like "futsal" online.

US Soccer is and always has been responsible for the sport of futsal in this country. Up until this year the only party that had expressed an interest in futsal and affiliating with US Soccer was the USFF. US Soccer does not beleive that the "trademark" is an issue. US Soccer has the right to develop the sport of futsal in the United States as it sees fit. If that means to develop a referee program for futsal it will do so. If they want to sanction additional futsal leagues other than USFF, they will do that. They also will continue to support the US National Futsal team and will determine the composition and schedule for the team.

I guess the trademark issue really has been settled. Kansas City has shown that you can play futsal in this country and not be affiliated with USFF.
