Title:   Herald Hunt "Hash"

Date:   Sunday November 29, 2009
Time:   11:30 am - 3:30 pm
Location:   Adrienne Arsht Center, downtown Miami
Notes:   If you are a puzzle person (you know if you are one of us), OR if you just like hangin' with Hashers, join us for this especially wacky and perplexing day. (See the link in the "additional info" on this date for a good idea of what you're getting into. It's FUN!) The general plan is to meet for the Hunt (UPDATE: meet at 11:30 a.m. at the NW corner of NE 13th Street and Biscayne Boulevard), run around like crazy people how and wherever the search for clues dictates, and drink some beers, with optional additional beers/food afterward. No flour, no circle, HashCash a buck or two to pay for beer during the Hunt. Pay parking available near the Arsht Center. Beer/food after is on you.

howdy...

PART of this message is some of my own personal conversation to
"h3 boating people" whose boat is in coconut grove right now.
the h3 coconut grove boating people want to go to h3 runs.
i simply am informing them that a run is scheduled for monday night
in the area of la BOCA del RATON florida u.s.a.

is anyone able to offer to drive anyone who is in coconut grove on a boat ?

what is the schedule of the "boating people" ?

the run starts at SEVEN P.M.
traffic dictates that it is better to leave no later than FIVE FORTY-FIVE P.M.
in order to arrive on time and to be able to finish calmly and peacefully
at least one pre-h3 run beer. leaving earlier and arriving earlier means
more pre-h3 run beer at the start.

onononononononWC
====================================================

it is
possible that TINY TANK (?) is the u.s.a. man
who is married to the italian lady. both have done h3 runs in the past.
their participation may be and/or may have been limited during the
last few years because of children in their family.

how many are in your group on the boat ?

a run is being held on monday night,
in the area of boca raton florida.

boca raton is in the southern end of palm beach county.
the city of miami is in miami-dade county.
fort lauderdale (the next "big city" to the north of miami
is in broward county.

palm beach county is the next county to the north of
broward county.

OMEGA MU and ARGENTUNA and WIMP live in coconut grove.
i do not know anything about their plans for each individual h3 run.

the problem may be geographical and logistical.

some people may live in coconut grove, but work to the northwest of home.
those "some people" may not plan on going
from the place of work after the
work time ends, and then go to the north again. those "some people" may
plan on leaving straight from the "place of work" and go directly to the north
for the h3 run. too much traffic and too much time back and forth may
make the plan better if the idea is just to continue toward the final
destination.......the start location of the h3 run.

please stay in touch...

it is fitting that senor LA QUEERA does not know the name of
the bank that will be the starting location of his own H3 run.

he did not know the name of the onononon bar for his virgin attempt
at being a hare in the first place a few years ago.

the name of CCS is not appropriate.

LA QUEERA is much better, because it is the name that
he (CCS) gave to the bar when he (CCS) was announcing
the name and location of the ONONONON bar for his virgin attempt
at being a hare.

See you tomorrow and don't forget to bring an extra set of trousers/pants/ jeans

Miami Herald Hunt
Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009
11:30 am - 3:30 pm

Hare: Q-Tits (954) 610-2295
Time: 11:30 am (Hunt starts at noon)
Cost: Bring a $1 or $2 for beer.
Location: Adrienne Arsht Center, downtown Miami -- meet at the NW corner of NE
13th Street and Biscayne Boulevard.

Notes:

If you are a puzzle person (you know if you are one of us), OR if you just like
hangin' with Hashers, join us for this especially wacky and perplexing day.
(Explore http://www.tropichunt.com/ for an explanation of how the Hunt works,
and examples from past years to get an idea of what you're getting into. Bottom
line is, it's FUN!)

The general plan is to meet for the Hunt, run around like crazy people how and
wherever the search for clues dictates, and drink some beers, with optional
additional beers/food afterward. No flour, no circle, HashCash a buck or two to
pay for beer during the Hunt. Info on pay parking available at
http://www.arshtcenter.org/home/parking_info.aspx Beer/food on-after is on you.

Old Miami landmark Jimbo's faces a crackdown

Historic Virginia Key jaunt Jimbo's

BY ANDRES VIGLUCCI

The informal understanding, city officials say, was that Jimbo and his
bait house would be allowed to remain for the remainder of his life,
an agreement they say they still mean to abide by.
Since then, they note, Jimbo has not paid a nickel for his use of public land.
Over the decades, the charming old shrimper, his rustic bait house and
the tranquil lagoon , developed a numerous and intensely devoted
following, often drawing scores of weekend visitors -- many of them
tourists who read about Jimbo's in travel guides or his
model-decorated website, www.jimbosplace.com.
TV's Flipper and Gentle Ben were filmed at Jimbo's lagoon. The high
point came perhaps in the 1990s, when Jimbo's drew a string of big
Hollywood films like True Lies, TV hits like Miami Vice and catalogue
and fashion shoots. Yuppies rode in on Harleys to drink and mingle
with the odd mix of models and toothless rummies.
Since then, however, as the place fell into increasing disrepair, the
shoots have become rarer, the visitors less numerous. No one has gone
shrimping from Shrimper's Lagoon in years. Jimbo's boat sits rotting
on the water. And the bait house no longer sells live bait, though the
iced beer, soda and fish -- still smoked on the premises -- remains
good and plentiful.
With a few exceptions -- an effort to impose a $5 entry fee that was
rescinded by the City Commission after a public protest, and a
rezoning that was meant to but failed to draw development to the spot
-- the city had left Jimbo's alone.
THE CHANGES
That hands-off attitude changed for a couple of reasons, city
officials say. These days, Jimbo -- aging and with two artificial
knees -- shows up at his namesake place only on weekends.
The people he left in charge, including his son, have allowed
mountains of trash to accumulate and illegal squatting to proliferate.
The old film sets have moldered and are in danger of collapse.
Even some longtime fans acknowledge Jimbo's is not quite what it once
was. But it's still well worth savoring, saidCapt. Bob Hamilton, a
trawler charter operator who brings clients by regularly.
``It was getting dumpy,'' Hamilton said, but added: ``This place is
the Last of the Mohicans, something you can't find anywhere else in
Miami anymore. Everyone knows Jimbo is not going to be around forever.
What's left if they clean it up? It would break Jimbo's heart. They
shouldn't be pushing him in the grave.''
But the conditions, the city says, are intolerable when they are
trying to transform Virginia Key -- now recognized as a fragile
ecological treasure -- into a conservation and recreational park. The
city and county have sunk millions into environmental and beach
restoration projects next to Jimbo's.
And though workers, friends and volunteers carried out a massive
clean-up last week, removing some old painted VW bugs and carting out
three dumpsters of trash that Jimbo says cost him $2,700, city
officials say it did not go far enough.
Code enforcement officials plan to visit Jimbo's, possibly as soon as
next week, to tag what they want gone.
To control crowds, the city has also reimposed the $5 Virginia Key
Beach entry fee, which used to be waived if visitors said they were
going to Jimbo's. The fee will be reimbursed upon exit with a stamped
ticked from Jimbo's.
``We are moving forward to have a very nice environment out there,''
Loret de Mola said.
Jimbo Luznar says he won't object if the city removes the film-set
shacks or the abandoned cars and boats. Some of it, he says, is the
city's fault. People began dumping trash after the city removed
nighttime security.
But he will plead with city officials to allow his son and a couple of
employees to remain to safeguard the place.
``If the city goes ahead, let 'em. I haven't made a nickel on that
place since they did that $5 fee thing again,'' he said. ``But my son
has to live there. I have to have a watchman there, or they would
steal everything I have.''
But Luznar laments that with the shacks and the old painted cars will
go the last hope of bringing back Hollywood and the models to Jimbo's.
``The still photographers don't come anymore,'' he said. ``Because
there's nothing there anymore.''

We are a group of hashers from Sir Walter's. We're sailing south and will be in
town for the next few days and would like to join the hash for trail.

We are moored at Las Olas Blvd on the ICW (next to the beach). Is there anyone
heading out to trail that might be able to give us a ride?

Title:   Herald Hunt "Hash"

Date:   Sunday November 29, 2009
Time:   11:30 am - 3:30 pm
Next reminder:   The next reminder for this event will be sent in 6 days, 3 minutes.
It's FUN!) The general plan is to meet for the Hunt, run around like crazy people how and wherever the search for clues dictates, and drink some beers, with optional additional beers/food afterward. No flour, no circle, HashCash a buck or two to pay for beer during the Hunt. Pay parking available just south (I think it's south) of the Arsht Center. Beer/food after is on you.

Title:   Register for Interbash before fee increase

Date:   Friday November 20, 2009
Time:   12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Location:   Tosohatchee Wildlife Mngt.Area. Between Orlando and Titusville, near Fort Christmas.
Notes:   Vagina Miner and DirtWeed are hosting the 2009 BIKE OUTERBASH CAMPOUT

The OUTERBASH is a celebration of Hashers from all parts of the world
converging on one pinpoint of the globe to give thanks to "G"

This will be an incredibly beautiful Hash of around 18 miles through
the scenic and natural "Old Florida" landscape. This all shiggy bike
friendly jungle trail will be a rare treat for all who attend. If you
were at the Bull Creek Hash that BeeJob and I hosted and you liked
that trail this one will blow the Bull Creek Hash away.

Hash cost $10.00. Please prepay (if possible) you won't want to miss
this Hash.

Entry into Tosohatchee WMA cost $3.00 per carload, per day.
If you are only showing up for the ride on Saturday Dec.12th you will
need to pay $3.00 entry at the gate.

Camping on the nights of Friday, Dec 11th and Saturday, Dec 12th you
will prepay the Tosohatchee camping fee of $10.00 before Nov.30th, I
must have the money no later than the 30th or you may not be allowed
to camp. (campers don't have to pay the $3.00 entry fee)
Campers may start as early Friday morning as they wish and stay
through till Sunday evening.

Just so I am perfectly clear....
If you are showing up on the day of the hash and going home afterward
you will be spending $13.00. ($3 for entry (carload) and $10 for
Hashing)
If you are camping you will spend $20 total. ($10 for entry, camping
and $10 for Hashing)

Camping is allowed for all Hashers who have shown good nature
behavior at past events, you may contact me
(dirtweed@radioactiv elight.com, Craig 321-720-3034) if you think you
are one of the well behaved Hashers that are fun to be around
when you are drunk. If you have a tendency to get really drunk and
start fights or if you are a litterbug who leaves trash in wild and
scenic areas, you may want to save yourself the embarrassment and just
show up for the ride only.

This camp is super nice, it is large (can accommodate 100's of
campers) and has lots of huge oak shade trees.

An all Argentine hash
Thursday November 19
Start location: Citibank parking lot on SW 22nd. St (Coral Way) and SW 16th
Ave.
Happy hour 6:30 pm, hares away 7:00 pm
Cost: $5
Hares: ArgenTuna and (for now) NFHN Silvia

Mobs of wild horses, Tehuelche Indians, ostriches and pumas are just a few of
the threats that loom over unsuspecting gringos headed (who said?) to the flat
grasslands of the Argentine Pampas.

To get there (closer than you thought!):
From the north, take I-95 till it ends and merges into US1. Continue on US 1
for 0.8 miles until you see the second light, SW 17th Ave. Make a right (north)
on SW 17 and continue for 0.3 miles until SW 22nd St. Make a right (east) on SW
22 and on the right hand side you will see the Citibank. Look for tango dancing
hashers and you're there.

From the south, take US 1 to SW 17 Ave. Make a left on SW 17 and continue for
0.3 miles until SW 22nd St. Make a right on SW 22 and on the right hand side
you will see the Citibank. Look for tango dancing hashers and you're there.

Title:   Jimbos celebration at noon

Date:   Saturday November 14, 2009
Time:   12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Location:   virginai key, key biscayne miami dade fl usa
Notes:   Here's an update: the city of Miami has rescinded the $5 fee to visit Jimbo's Shrimp Shack. If you pay $5 at the gate, have your receipt signed at Jimbo's for a full refund.

Now it's time to celebrate this relief. It's been tough on Jimbo since August 1st when the $5 entrance fee nearly ruined Jimbo's business. Let's gather at Jimbo's on Saturday, November 14th at noon to show our support for this uniquely genuine Florida establishment.
