PORT ST. LUCIE, FL.—The St. Lucie Mets will host the
43rd Florida State League All-Star Game, highlighting
the 85th anniversary of the Florida State League, the
weekend of June 11th-13th, 2004 at the newly renovated
Mets Stadium.
“We are excited to be hosting the 2004 All-Star Game,
it’s been almost 10 years since it was last held in
St. Lucie,” said Paul Taglieri, Director of Florida
Operations for the New York Mets. “This will be a
great way to showcase the new renovations to the
stadium.”
“We’re really happy to get the opportunity to be back
with the Mets and in their newly renovated stadium,”
said Chuck Murphy, President of the Florida State
League. “We look forward to a special weekend.”
The All-Star Weekend is sponsored in part by the St.
Lucie Tourist Development Council.
“The St. Lucie County Tourist Development Council is
thrilled to be partnering with the Mets to host the
2004 Florida State League All-Star Game here in Port
St. Lucie,” said Gayla Barwick, St. Lucie County
Tourism Manager. “It will give baseball fans from
around the state a chance to experience all that St.
Lucie County has to offer from beautiful beaches and
nature preserves to unique attractions to world-class
golf courses.”
The weekend of events will begin on Friday, June 11
with a press conference for all the players and
coaches. On Saturday, June 12 there will be an
autograph session and a Homerun Derby, followed by the
All-Star Game, beginning at 7:30 pm.
