The Miracle Will Preserve You For Free!
FORT MYERS, Fla. – After more than 100 years of professional
baseball, it is difficult to create a promotion that is truly
unique. On August 2, 2002, the Fort Myers Miracle of the Florida
State League will do just that, and in the process immortalize one
fan in attendance.
Premium giveaways have been a staple of minor and major league teams
for much of the past century, and the latest craze is the bobble head
doll. So what is so unique about the Fort Myers Miracle creating yet
another one of these zany figurines? Well, instead of Alex Rodriguez
or Barry Bonds, the likeness of this bobble head will resemble one
lucky fan in attendance that evening.
After the lucky fan is chosen from the stands, a Miracle staff member
will take a few photos of that fan, and then Associated Premium
Corporation will produce 10 bobble head dolls with that fan's
likeness wearing a personalized Miracle jersey. Finally, on August
31 the Miracle staff will do an on-field presentation to that lucky
bobble headed fan prior to the Miracle's second last regular season
game at Hammond Stadium in the Lee County Sports Complex.
"Baseball, at any level, survives because of the fans", stated
Miracle General Manager Dave Burke. "So to show our gratitude we
will reproduce one of our fans as a collector's item."
