The Fort Myers Miracle equaled the best start in club history on Monday night
with a 5-1 win over the Tampa Yankees at Legend Field.
The Miracle are now 5-0 on the season, matching the mark set in 2003 when the
roster included current Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer.
Starter Nick Blackburn, the only pitcher to have worn a Miracle jersey last
season, hurled seven nearly flawless innings, allowing one run on three hits,
while striking out two in a dominating performance that earned him his first
victory of the season.
Matt Moses once again provided all the offense the Miracle would need. He
drove in a pair of runs, the first on an RBI single in the third and the second
on an RBI double in the fifth. He has at least one RBI in each of the first
five games this season.
