Re: [friends_of_teamlunachix_dc] Tri wear

This is Patti that works in Bella Bikes (only women's only bike shop in the country)
I have done a lot of buying of tri gear for women and I find that the best thing to buy is a two piece tri suit.  You can also mix and match.  A lot of women don't like the tight band around the bottom of the leg so opt to go for a tri short that has little elastic (Descente tri gear) and either a top that matches or another tri top that matches.  All the tops have pockets either in the back or sides.  You can shop around for tops that are a little longer for cover up if you so desire.  The good thing about the two peice is that it is easily accessible to potty breaks and also the pad is a lot thinner than regular tri shorts, but enough to keep your butt padded  whether it is a sprint tri or an Ironman.  You can wear it in the swim and then run to bike and then to run without stopping to pull on bike shorts or shirt, just GO!
Hope that helps
Patti

My first triathlon will be the Aflac Irongirl 8/09. No wetsuits
allowed. I'm not sure I would like to wear a tri-suit and would like
to try separates.

I have a good pair of tri shorts but what do you like wearing on
top? Most of the tri tops don't seem to have enough support but I'm
not sure if I should also be wearing a sports bra underneath? What has
worked for some of you in the past?

Thanks,

Seong

Irongirl 2008 was my first tri and I had a similar dilemma. I ended up wearing tri shorts and a tanktop style tri top (pullover, no zipper) with a built in...

Size does make a difference here (some women can race with just a sports top, some can race with a supported sports top, some have to have another sports bra...
