28 May 2001 (Teamtalk) -- Hi everyone. I am going to
do my best to make this as entertaining as possible
but there needs to be a quick disclaimer beforehand.
One of my teammates (Skylar) told me that more and
more people are starting to read these journals so I
am feeling a little pressure right from the start.
With that said, I will do my best to keep you
amused....
A small introduction would probably be
appropriate, at least according to the rules of journal
writing. I'll keep it short considering you can access the
Washington Freedom website or the WUSA website if you want a
full rundown. Getting on with it...my name is Jennifer
Grubb (and I do prefer my full name. However, I am
rarely addressed that way with the exception of my
parents and a few friends.)

I graduated from
Notre Dame in December of 2000 with a degree in
Psychology and a degree in Sociology. (These are both areas
of study that I would like to pursue at some point
but I don't think I am ready for another 7 years of
school just yet.) I grew up outside of Chicago (properly
named as the Windy City) and lived there until I moved
to Washington D.C. to join the Freedom. I'll leave
it at that for now, as I am sure that more about me
will be revealed through the course of my journal
writing.

In order for this to make sense to you in
my subsequent entries, I need to give you a "quick"
background about what my days are like. I am usually up
around 7 a.m. seeing as how I live with a family that
has two girls getting ready for school in the
morning. So, I have about an hour and a half to get ready
for work. Most people probably need that much time
but since getting ready doesn't require drying my
hair or putting on makeup, I have plenty of time to
cook breakfast, read the paper and then get ready to
go.

I have been driving to the stadium almost
everyday with Keri Sarver and she definitely keeps me
entertained. (Also, recently, Anne Makinen has joined us and
adds to the excitement). Keri has had a little bit of
trouble with cars recently....she just got her car back
from the shop after having to get her alignment fixed
and about a week later, the Freedom van backed into
her car and needless to say, it's back in the shop.
So, I guess I can blame part of her driving on not
being familiar with the rental car. (the operative word
is part)

Anyway, the last thing that I will
say about driving is that even though there are so
many great conversation pieces around D.C., we never
fail to comment on the Pentagon. In all seriousness, I
would recommend looking at some facts regarding the
Pentagon because it really is an amazing community, all in
one building. (i.e. The Pentagon outer walls are 971
ft. long, there are 17.1 miles of corridors inside
the Pentagon, any point to any point inside the
Pentagon can be traveled in 7 minutes, and bikes are used
to travel those distances inside the building)

Okay, about the team...refer to
www.washingtonfreedom.com or www.wusaleague.com. I will give you more
personal reflection later.
