Perhaps one of the funniest stories comes due to
the language barrier between our team and the
Brazilians, Pretinha and Roseli. Roseli was feeling a bit
sore, so she asked for some aspirin or Advil. It took
awhile for her to get her Advil, and once she got it,
she kept it in her hand. It began to melt, so she
popped it in her mouth, which doesn't seem like that big
of a deal. Suddenly she turned to Louise Lieberman,
a player on our team who speaks Portuguese, and
said in her best English "This candy does not taste so
good!" Everyone was like, "That's ADVIL not candy!!"
Poor Roseli, everyone ended up getting a good laugh at
her expense!

Personally, I am having a
wonderful time here in DC. A lot of the players here, I've
played with before due to ODP, college, or the National
Team. It's great to be reunited with all of them!

I'm living with a family who are close friends with
Christie Pearce, who plays for the New York Power. The
three girls, who are 11, 12, and 14, all play soccer,
and we've already had so much fun together! I feel so
lucky to have such a great environment to live in! I
live downstairs, which is basically like a little
apartment, and we've all had a lot of fun decorating it, and
making it feel somewhat like home. I even have a little
framed picture of Portland to remind me of the great
Northwest!

One of the most important elements that
we will need to be successful this season will be
team chemistry. Based on the fact that many of our
stomachs are sore from laughing all week (at least that's
what we say it's from), I think our team chemistry is
developing very quickly!

We are all extremely
excited for the inaugural game here at RFK on April 14th.
We know how fortunate we are to have it at our home
stadium! We would love to be able to have a sellout crowd
on hand to experience such a historic event!

Hopefully a lot of you will be there to cheer on the
FREEDOM! With each day and training session that passes we
are getting closer to the opener. And like our coach
said, it's all "money in the bank!" As a result, on
April 14th we hope to kick off a successful first year
of the WUSA, and start the season with a win!
