A sculptue inspired by Mia Hamm   Message List

Hello Group,

I'm a self-taught artist living and working in Cleveland,
Ohio. I've always been fascinated by the human form in
motion and recently made a small statue of Mia Hamm.
Several photos of it can be found on this page of my
web site:

http://www.dreamwater.org/art/johnarndt/soccerpage2.html

Based on a composite of photos that I found on line, it
is made of polymer clay on an armature of steel rods and
stands 24" tall. I have not yet titled it on my site
with Mia's name so as to avoid possible copyright issues.

I made inquiries to a local foundry that specializes in
casting sculpture and got an estimate for how
much it would cost to have a bronze cast made of this piece
(which would yield a statue that would last 5,000 years.)
Then I contacted Mia's mother, and the Mia Hamm foundation
about it, but haven't heard from either. (I didn't try
to contact Mia herself because I understand she's extremely
modest, and probably wouldn't want a sculpture of herself.)
If anybody in this group knows anyone who might be
interested in having this piece of art cast in bronze,
please pass the web address on to them.

I hope you like what you see!

Sincerely,
John Arndt
