How important is a "real mogul rating"? I want to create my own leage but it
always tells me that it will invalidate my Mogul rating.<br><br>Thanks!<br>Brian
Actually, Co - Commishing can help or hinder a
league depending on how everything works out.<br><br>I
feel, you could make a solid league, if you could get
into the code, and web enable this game, the problem
is, forcing the owners to have the game, it's what
kills the online play of it. Granted, this game only
costs $10 at some stores, it still hinders the younger
crowd that can't afford the game yet. I feel, if they
get addicted now, when they can afford it, the game
will grow.<br><br>But then again, thats my 2 cents
Yes, I believe taht a co-commish league could
work. However we don't seem to be generating enough
interest at this site to form a new league. <br><br>Those
who've tried ICFM, the only active league that I'm aware
of, what are the preceived downsides to this league.
It seems to have a large number of participants.
What would a new league offer to differentiate itself
from ICFM?
I agree to a certain extent. If we were able to
get together a group of folks to act as
co-commisioners the tasks could be broken up into more manageable
and less time consuming. For example, a web designer,
a commish, etc. That sort of thing. I realize I'm a
newbie to the page (the game as well, I have yet to
receive my copy, but its on its way) but couldn't this
conceivably work and make for a more enjoyable game? I'd tend
to think yes.<br><br>Shawn
Ok, I always do admire the person who attempts to
take upon him the task of "Commissioner". Even if they
don't know how, but for those of you who have never
commished and are thinking about it. Here is a list of
things you may want to think about before getting your
feet in this situation and pissing a lot of people
off.<br><br>1) First thing, know the game you are using, inside
and out(One reason I have yet to run a Mogul
league)<br><br> You need to realize, that if you don't know your
software and you continue to screw up on coaches orders
and such, your coaches will leave.<br><br>2) Have
some Web Knowledge.<br><br> I see this a lot, it
doesn't hinder a league, it just makes it look bad. Know
how to make a web page, make it easy to navigate, and
keep everything out in the open for people to find.
And most of all, make it look nice. There are tools
out there that make even the novice look like a
professional web developer.<br><br>3) Set a schedule and stick
to it.<br><br> Thats right, set your schedule and
stick to it, I have lost owners in previous leagues for
not following my schedule a lot. You need to do
this.<br><br>4) Have the time to run the league<br><br> Time, a
valued commodity that not a lot of people have, but you
need this for a commissioner. Look at having around 1
to 2 hours a day to make sure everything is smooth
and updates are done. Think about this, I mean truly
think about this, I am saying this is equal to 7 to 14
hours a week, for some, it's the equivalent of a part
time job (trust me, it feels like it
sometimes)<br><br>5) Patience is a virtue<br><br> This old addage
stays true for everything you do, you need to be
patient with your owners, some may bitch and moan, others
may even attempt to cheat, I have seen it all in the
5 years I have been running online sports leagues
(FbPro, BbPro, and now Fast Break Basketball) and my
patience has been tested (trust me, I have a wife and 2
kids, I have patience)<br><br>When you are ready to
uptake these 5 tips, I feel your league can run smooth,
I have been able to run successful leagues (to bad
FbPro hate seasons longer than 6 with file corruption)
following all of this, and I always remember the last
inmportant rule<br><br>HAVE FUN!<br><br>Good Luck
all<br><br>MacroGuru aka Dennis
This is likely another reason why leagues fail.
People who have no business being the "Commissioner",
decide they'll create a league for something that they
kno nothing about. They get bored of it after a few
weeks and leave everyone stranded. I agree that someone
with knowledge of the game and commitment to
maintaining a league is essential.<br><br>I'm not saying I'd
do any better. The task is daunting. Between loading
files, running matches, and updating websites, etc. I
imagine it takes a lot of time.
Well, there seems to be an owner starting another
league, and I contacted him about it. I think it would be
in the best interest of us fans to start a new
league. The guy who is starting the league doesn't seem
to know anything about running a league or Football
Mogul.
I've searched for leagues, finding many inactive
leagues. I'd be interested in entering a new league,
unfortunately do not have the time to coordinate it. It seems
like this would be the best place to identify an
interest in an new online league. If we could get 20-24
individuals who were committed to participating in a league
it might be easier to find someone willing to invest
the time to administering a league.<br><br>So whose
interested?
Is anyone starting a new league anytime soon? There is only one active league on
the internet, and I think that there needs to be a better league than the ICFM.
It's not very fun.
I have v1.0 of Football Mogul and there seems to
be a bug. When I Trade for a better punter, and the
trade is accepted, the punter NEVER shows up in my
teams roster.. I only have this problem with the Kicker
and Punter, and NO Other players<br>Is this a bug? Is
there a fix?<br><br>Thanks<br>Steverd
I found a roster patch but when i try to install
it i get a error message saying "you are missing one
or more files you must have full version of game to
use patch if you have full version of game reinstall
and try again" I have the full version and i have
tried reinstalling the game but it will not work.
Anybody know what to do here
I posted this on the message board at
mogulsports:<br><br><br>How do you get the Hall of Fame feature to work in
Football Mogul? I've played a season about 10 years long
and I still don't have anyone in the Hall of
Fame.<br><br><br>Clay Dreslough replied with this:<br><br>Nick,
<br><br>I believe there's actually a bug in the retail
version of Football Mogul that disabled the Hall Of Fame.
I'm working on a patch to fix this and a few other
things in the game, but I need to find the time to work
on it some more before I can post it. <br><br>Clay
Everyone please check out the league at
www.fortunecity.com/athena/ginsberg/1340/index.htm<br><br><br>Some good teams
are available. Please email me at william4192@...<br><br>Will
I've noticed that when you try to trade for a kicker or punter most of the time
it erases the person you traded for, so end up giving up players for nothing.
