Sheila is working her cattle farm alone, from dawn till dusk. Her only ranch
hand, Erick, has a drinking problem. The ranch had been her parents dream, so
she feels honor bound to continue the work, pushing her loneliness away. When
she meets Hank, she believes he is nothing more than a drifter. He changes her
outlook on life.

Erick's past demons have him running for the bottle, hoping to forget the
past. After an accident that killed his wife and child, he believes nothing is
worth living for. Only the drink can drown out the memories that constantly
haunt him. Working on Sheila’s ranch, he hopes to fight his drinking problem.

Hank is a drifter, living from day to day. His outlook is always positive.
After a mild heart attack, he discovered that life was too precious to waste and
changed his life.

When a drug runner crosses the line from Mexico into USA, killing two border
patrol agents, danger comes to Sheila’s ranch.

Kenneth Baker has written a unique story. I fell in love with the characters
from the first page. He has a wonderful imagination that fills the pages with
such detail, I felt as if I were standing right there with the characters. A
wonderful book Mr. Baker, keep up the awesome work!

REMNANTS OF LOVE
Rating: 5 Stars

In the near future, the world as we know it no longer exists. The U.S. economy
has collapsed, leading to the fall of the government and the end of the American
way of life. People are forced to live off the land at a time when global
warming seems to be drastically changing growing conditions for the worst.
Bartering is the way most people get what they need to survive. After years of
fighting to keep what you have, people now live always looking out for someone
trying to come and take it away. And they do come. Kenny has lived a long time
watching the downward spiral and making his choices based on his best guess of
what was to come. He lives a lonely life now on his mountaintop with a few
cherished friends nearby, but without the love of his life. He sees the signs
that trouble, big trouble, is on the way, but has no idea his greatest blessing
just may arrive in the end.
For any reader that has never read a book by this author, I recommend this novel
to be the one to choose the first. Of course, once you read one, you will no
doubt be back for more. Kenneth E. Baker is a master storyteller spinning a web
which draws the reader in and leaves them not wanting to escape. He has a way of
taking ordinary everyday people and making them into heroes, people you would be
proud to call your friends. His stories are fascinating and full of depth, and
his characters are colorful and dynamic.
I have read several of this author's books now and each one has left me with
those feelings without fail. This book in particular, led me through a myriad of
emotions starting with a big laugh, which can be quite embarrassing when you are
sitting at the computer screen late at night in a quiet room and there are other
people nearby! I went from anger, to surprise and even to a cry in the end. In
my opinion, anytime you find yourself thinking about a book and who the
characters were and what kind of message you have taken away from the story, the
author has done his job and done it well. Well done, Mr. Baker!

   Review:
As a whole, humans are, simply put, very smart animals. Our closest relative
is the ape, and we look like them, only with less hair. We hunt, we gather, we
live in groups. Sometimes, we prey on one another. In Kenneth E. Baker's The
Chosen One, a disease attacks the population of the United States and causes the
humans not only to hunt one another, but in some cases, to eat what they kill. A
select few will be spared from the disease, but they will become the prime
targets of the thousands who wish to cleanse the world of those who are
different and become a new society. Over ninety percent of the population will
die from the disease, and those that do not are the most dangerous men around.
One man, Pete, catches the disease, and through a fluke, ends up as part of
the world's biggest and most powerful computer. He starts calling those with the
disease to him, giving them orders and plotting the demise of the humans who
have 'captured' him within the computer.
One woman, Tony, will be completely spared from the disease, and learn that
she is the key to stopping the plague. Others will come to her, following
instinct and a higher power to her side and protecting her.
Bill, Tony's boyfriend, has to accept that his life will never again be the
same. Even after hearing his co-workers plotting his 'accidental death' he
cannot believe what is happening. He loves Tony and will follow her anywhere.
Joe, ex-military, follows instinct and starts heading for a small town to meet
up with the One. Along the way, he rescues a little girl from rape and death at
the hands of two men who have survived the disease and are now working with
Pete.
Stalker, a monstrous wolf, joins in the fight after a female voice promises
him that his mate and his pups will be safe while he is gone. He is needed to
protect the humans from themselves, and to travel with the One. His presence
comes in handy when the hunters try to capture the small party on their journey
to a safe place where they won't have to fear anymore.
But the odds are, literally, one thousand to one and with so many on their
tail, there is little chance of survival.
Mr. Baker has written a suspenseful, terrifying novel with The Chosen One.
With the diseases common today, from flu epidemics to AIDS and cancer, each of
them constantly changing into a stronger, more powerful strain, we are always
under a health scare. He plays on that fear and multiplies it ten-fold to keep
you on the edge of your seat and reading long into the night. Gather up your
courage for this tale. You're going to need it.

   Review:
After having read Kenneth E. Baker's book The Chosen One, I'll admit to being
a little afraid of reading the sequel, Stalker's Revenge. Having read the first
installment in the series, I knew that it would be an excellent book. But he has
a way of making your own fears rear up to bite you in the butt and send you
scurrying for the light switch.
At the end of the first book, the core group is finally together. They are now
ready to make the hardest part of their trip. They all have a different reason
for being there, but something beyond them has called to people that the Deity
knows can save the earth from destruction.
Tony, the Chosen One, has started displaying amazing abilities that are both a
blessing and a curse. She has tried to protect Bill, her boyfriend, from the
worst of their new life, but she cannot do it anymore. Bill still isn't sure how
he feels about going day to day, wondering if he'll live through the night.
The rest of the group, from eleven-year-old Tammy to matronly Jane,
ex-military and with the spine of steel, all they have now is each other. But
they won't be alone for much longer. Stalker, the massive black Canadian timber
wolf that is sensitive about his looks, senses the presence of something like
the Guardian he knows lives inside Ben. But, where Ben's Guardian is something
good and innocent, the thing he feels is black of soul and as evil as they come.
Pete is slowly moving himself to a new location in hopes of destroying Rita,
the most powerful computer ever built, and her creator, Ross, once Pete gets out
of Rita's motherboard.
Pete has used the unlimited resources he found in Rita's programs to call the
infected people to him. Todd, Pete's second in command, has his own issues to
work through. One of his soldiers ran off, and he's slowly losing control over
his army.
A new government has set itself up in the United States. Around the world,
countries are destroying themselves in an attempt to control the outbreak of an
unknown disease that turns some into cannibals and others into killing machines,
while still others simply perish. Over one hundred billion people have died.
With the odds being about a thousand to one, it seems that Tony's group is
fighting a losing battle.
While wonderfully crafted, this story isn't for those who suffer from
paranoia. Mr. Baker will take your deepest fears in his hand and twist them into
something new and terrifying. Stalker's Revenge will keep you up all night
looking in dark corners and checking for the monster under the bed.

Sometimes in life, you get a second chance. As this book began,
Jennifer Harding and Derrick Rafferty are both sure that the best part of their
lives has come and gone. They’re going through the motions and marking time. As
the story gathers steam, the two meet and get to know each other just a bit.
When Jennifer’s sister, Mary comes to stay for a visit, life gets a little too
exciting first for Jennifer and Mary and then for the nice widowed rancher,
Derrick, that Jennifer turns to for help. Before I knew it, I’d gone from
reading a sweet love story to reading a thriller. It put me on the edge of my
seat and kept me involved right to the end.

In this book, Mr. Baker begins with the question, “what if?” As he
begins to answer that, we meet Bill and the love of his life, Tony, a beautiful
girl with the weight of the world on her shoulders – or what’s left of it. As
this story develops, you’ll be impressed with the richness of the characters as
well as the detail of the plot. I have read several books by Ken Baker and like
snowflakes and diamonds, I’ve discovered that no two are alike but every one of
them is worth having around. This book was thrilling to say the least. I found
myself intrigued and more involved in this tale with every turn of the page. If
I had any complaints they would be that I want more.

Yeah I know, I never really thought this stuff would work either, but honestly I
stand totally corrected. This place http://www.meetthemonlinenow.info/cbsv is
actually very awesome. I hooked mycam up and within no time at all I was talking
to a few great ladies over it. Anyway, I recommend it to everyone here!
