***CHL Laredo Bucks***
All the sticks are taped and all the skates are
sharpened. The music is set, the lights are ready and
the Laredo fans are about ready to camp out tonight in
the LEC parking lot!
Laredo opens at home tomorrow night against the San
Angelo Saints. The puck drops at 7:30 (CT). All
Bucks games, home and away can be heard on Classic
Hits 94.9, The New QURE FM, as well as online via
www.sportsjuice.com.
This is the first of six games between Laredo and San
Angelo. The Bucks were 4-2-2 against the Saints last
season.
The Saints have retooled in the off-season. Ray
Edwards is the new bench boss for the Saints who are
off to a quick start, posting a 2-0-0 record by taking
wins over Odessa and Rio Grande Valley. Scott Reid
was named the CHL netminder of the week for his
performance in those two games.
Chris Minard had two goals and an assist for the
Saints in the new season. He is tied in points and
+/- with Ryan Finnerty, who has had a goal and two
assists. Right Wings Steve Roberts has a goal and an
assist for the Saints. Center Chris Peach returned to
the Saints this year, but has been held to only one
assist in their two games played.
Defenseman Derek Booth leads the San Angelo team in
plus/minus with a +4.
The Saints stop off in Corpus Christi tonight to take
on the Rayz before heading to the Laredo Entertainment
Center for tomorrow night's match up.
Laredo opened its second season in the CHL by
defeating that same Rayz team for the 11th consecutive
game, 5-2.
Rookie J.F. David had a goal and an assist as did
returning Bucks Serge Dube and Steve Weidlich.
Patrick Nilson, the brother of Panthers' forward
Marcus Nilson, and Chris Grenville each recorded a
goal. Rookie Mike Amodeo had two assists.
The Laredo Bucks Booster Club will be holding a
tailgate for this game starting at 5:30 that will be
open to the public. The Tailgate should be on the
south side of the parking lot near entrance "C".
