Just read the article in the Fleet Feet Flyer about Austin Hindman.  Austin is the 9 year old boy who completed the Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon this year. 
 
Austin and his dad Jeff recently participated in the Fall 2008 Rec Plex Triathlon.  I had the opportunity to speak to both of them for quite a while at packet pick up, before and after the tri.  I was so impressed by this child.  He looks like a child, but when he talks about triathlon with you...you forget you are speaking to a 9 year old!  He's an amazing young man and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about his experience at Alcatraz.  He's also the youngest person to compete in the Rec Plex Tri...we weren't quite prepared for a child wanting to compete, so we decided to let him since his dad was competing in it as well.  When I heard about his racing pedigree...I had no problem with his age! 
 
What impressed me most however, was immediately after his race, he came over to me, and thanked us for allowing him to participate in this adult arena and told us what a great time he had and could he come back in the spring?  What a gentleman!
