Good new on Creve Coeur Lake Spur/bike path   Message List

I know at least some of the group makes use of the Creve Coeur Lake
Spur/bike path that goes from the lake across Page and joins to the
Katy Trail. If you've used it recently, you've had to go through the
construction detour for the new Maryland Heights Expressway connector
to Olive. Exactly where the road is routed to Olive is a BIG local
issue. But I got a pretty quick, positive response from Daniel R.
Naunheim at the County Highway department about MY big issue with
having a safe running path. He says this:

"Thank you for your inquiry regarding the pedestrian/bicycle
facilities related to the Maryland Heights Expressway Extension."

"I am pleased to advise that, as part of the road project, we are also
constructing a pedestrian/bicycle bridge over the Maryland Heights
Expressway immediately south of Page Avenue. Both the roadway and the
pedestrian bridge should be opened to traffic by the end of 2008."

Very good news, I think. Thought I'd pass it along.

Website about the connector is at

Good news indeed. Some complain about the flatness out there, so now there will be another hill! _____ From: fleetfeetrunnersclub@yahoogroups.com ...
