The Club President asked me to forward this to all. Please follow the link in the first attachment to get to the entry form. I wasn't able to include it in this message due to it's size. Dave Bennett Brian Wies asked me to post the following information about the 3rd Annual Karen 4 A Kause 5K Fun Run/Walk. Note that the early registration ends today, so sign up now! Attached is a race registration form, a fact sheet about the Karen Weidinger Foundation and some information about the KWF Children’s Festival that is on the same day as the race/walk. It looks like good fun for the whole family! Following is what Brian sent:Come join us for the 3rd Annual Karen 4 A Kause 5K Fun Run/Walk and Children's Mad Dash Against Cancer to be held on May 10th (the day before Mother's Day) at Frontier Park in St. Charles, MO. Last year's event had over 400 registered and raised over $20,000 to assist those in our community currently affected by breast cancer.
The event was created as a fund raiser put on by the Karen Weidinger Foundation (KWF), a non-profit, 501(c)3 foundation founded in honor of a wonderful person who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2004. We are proud to have partnered withJoseph's SSM St. Health Center and the, and currently support and fund programs for individuals going through breast cancer treatments. Most of what we provide are items that insurance does not typically cover, such as wigs and post-mastectomy camisoles, as well as yoga classes and other wellness programs. H.W. Koenig Cancer Center
Like last year, the event will feature a 5K (3.1 mile) run/walk along the scenic Missouri River and Katy Trail, as well as a short sprint for children ages 12 and under. The Children's events will feature visits from Fredbird, Ronald McDonald and others, as well as free activities such as face painting and a magic show, just to name a couple. Early-bird registration deadline is April 18th, but you may register all the way up to the day of the event. Registration is also available at www.active.com.
We are currently looking for participants, obviously, but for volunteers and sponsors as well. Email karen4akure@yahoo.com if you're interested.Don’t forget early registration ends today!Chris Heupel
