Last year one day we took off work really early and started from the Ashley power plant on the downtown riverfront and went clear to Pere Marquette and back. You get a scenic view of all the scrap metal dealers for a few miles of the downtown section, but I never felt unsafe. The Chain of Rocks Bridge is pretty neat. We stopped at some bar in Grafton for lunch that was right on the trail.

It is a flat bike path, till you get closer to Perre Marquette, but those hills aren't bad at all. Another good biking is Wildwood if you want big steep hills. My next adventure will be the Lewis and Clark museum in Alton to downtown St. Louis on the riverfront bike path. Or the Perre Marquette trails or the bike path for running. Is that Riverfront bike path safe? Anybody else got some good biking and running places that are new?
