Since this is your first race the most important thing is to have fun. On August 1st there is a good chance that it will be hot and humid. Make sure that you get enough to drink before the race, I prefer gatorade, and drink at the water stops. Make sure that you don't go out too fast. Running people are generally a friendly lot. If you have any idea what kind of pace that you want to run, try and find someone at the starting line that is going to run that pace. Just stay behind them for the first mile and you can avoid going out too fast.
Just remember the main purpose of the race is to have fun and good luck to you.

Is anyone running this on August 1st? I just signed up and it's my first race! I'm pretty nervous since I'm running it by myself. I'm not sure what to bring or how to prepare. Any advice from the running vets on how to be prepared and what to expect would be great!
