I talked to Ernst a couple of days ago.  He sent me and some of you a long email, which I don’t want to post on this very public list.  He is doing well, has moved, is very busy, has no pain with his hip during normal activity, but can only run a couple of miles until pain develops and stops him from doing what he used to love so much, distance running.

The big surprise is that he will be in Berlin during Marathon weekend.  It just happened that a friend of his has a big birthday party and Ernst and Bea are invited.  Julia and Fred, besides my family we will have Ernst and Bea out at the course cheering us on.  It cannot get much better.  Ernst and Bea will arrive in Berlin sometime on Saturday afternoon; after that we will work out a get-together, either Saturday evening or Sunday after the marathon.

Also, Ernst will be in the US from October 9-20, part of that in Louisville (Oct. 13-20).  He would like to meet with everyone on October 14 at Fleet Feet for a short and easy run.  I am sure we can make arrangements for that and some fun after it.
