I'm going and we are making it an extended family affair - my wife and 3
kids in one room at the Best Western adjacent to the university and my
parents will be next door. We are arriving on Friday even - looking
forward to a nice Memorial Day weekend with them, but that's not to say
I'm not going to be up for getting together with you all too! Let's
figure out some places to meet - maybe on Sunday for those going up the
day before (pasta dinner?) and on race day (Cody and Lori said they like
to meet in a certain area of the stadium - maybe we could have a FIT
Finish It! sign or something).
I am in wave CB and I'm scared about that, quite frankly. I have a 5k
time that puts me in that wave according to the ol' conversion chart,
but I've only run one 10k, the Rescue Run, and I didn't break 1 hour,
much less 50 minutes. Granted, the Rescue Run has mega hills and the
streets were caked with ice this year, but I don't know if I can run 8
minute miles that long, which is what I think I need to do to finish in
the right time with my wave. I say all this to say that if there is
anyone who wants to make 49:59 their goal, I would love a pacing
partner! I wonder if that is even a realistic goal - my 5k PR is 23:50,
but that was in Arizona and I ran a 24:19 yesterday at the Alex Hoag and
didn't feel like I left anything out there on the course.
