I have discussed this upcoming marathon with Jeff and Brian and we were
wondering if other FCA skaters would be interested in participating in
this event.
I am planning on heading to the dome on available days to train and get
myself skateable again so anyone interested let us know and maybe we
can set up a workable schedule for everyone to get together for this. I
have the link to the event below.

Hey all,

I just wanted to send out a request for prayers for Teammate and FCA-E
Board Member Carl Rundell (MI) and Teammate Aaron Sjogran (MN) as they run
in the Twin Cities Marathon tomorrow. Carl is one of our elite runners and
is competing for the Master's National Championship. May both of them
glorify God through this event and minister boldly as they are presented
with opportunities. Results can be found at:

Blessings to you all!

Hey all,

Just a reminder about tomorrow's ride... 7:00 AM at Valley Bike and Ski.
Looks like it should be a pretty nice day, and I'll even be making the
ride :-)

Also, if you were looking for a way to put that riding to the test, I would
encourage you to join us for this Tuesday's TNT (Tuesday Night Time Trial).
This Tuesday is also a team time trial, and we are already putting together
1 team (should be over 25 mph) and would love to add a second (perhaps a
bit slower). If you can make it, let me know, and we'll try to get Teams
sorted out.

Hey MN Huddle,

I wanted to throw this out as an idea. I was thinking it would be great to
have a FCA Endurance presence at this event along with the other tri clubs.
It is a great opportunity to build relationships and prayerfully minister
to the other riders as the Spirit guides. It is also a potential great
fitness booster, and the MN tri club does a great job of putting on these
events.

Right now I'm thinking of going in place of the Huddle Saturday morning
ride (which will still take place). Anyone else interested? If so, please
let me know, and be sure you're equipped... would be great to have a number
of our jerseys out on the ride building awareness.

Blessings,

RSVP to ART: Art15651@... and mention which TriClub you belong
to.

                       July Century Ride Announcement

Hey everyone!

It’s time for the third MN TriClub Century Ride of 2008. The ride will
take place on Saturday, July 26th’! Same as last month, we’re co-hosting
the ride with our triathlete friends from the Gear West Tri Club. This ride
will have lots of great folks of all abilities in attendance. All are
welcome: MN TriClub members, GW TriClub members, TCMC members and
non-members alike. As with all of our Century Rides, it’s fully supported
with snacks and fluids supplied on the course.

July’s ride will be on our popular Southwestern Route. This is an
out-and-back ride on country roads with great shoulders. Since it’s an
out-and-back ride, you can ride as little or as much of the route as you
want to. There will be 2 aid stations: Jordan and Montgomery –
approximately at miles 21 & 40 on the way out and miles 60 & 79 on the way
back. Each aid station will have energy bars, gels, water, Gatorade
powder, fruit, pretzels, cookies, extra bike tubes, CO2 cartridges, sun
block, bug spray, hand wipes and more. As with all of our rides, an
experienced rider will ride at the back of the group up until the first aid
station so that you won’t get lost or be dropped. All you need to do is
ride and have fun. This ride is always well attended, so don’t be left
out!

Below are all the specifics YOU’LL need to know about the ride, but first
WE need to know if you’re coming so we can buy enough “stuff” for every
rider. So please RSVP today to Art (art15651@...) while you’re
thinking about it.

WHAT: MN TriClub/Gear West TriClub Joint Century Ride
WHEN: Saturday, July 26th @ 7:30 am sharp!
WHO: MN TriClub members (free), GW TriClub members (free) and anyone else
interested in riding ($10 for non-members and $5 for TCMC members). A
liability form for non-members is attached (MN TriClub and Gear West
TriClub members do not need to sign this form, but all others do including
TCMC members). The information asked for on the form can be entered right
on your computer and then the form can be printed out so all you have to do
is sign it. Please print it, sign it and bring it along with your payment
(exact change greatly appreciated) to help speed up the registration
process and get you out on the course quicker. VERY IMPORTANT: on your
RSVP, please state which club you are a member of so we can keep the
sign-in hassles to a minimum!
WHERE: Dred Scott Park in Bloomington (Directions:
http://tinyurl.com/6nt32j). We meet and leave from the parking lot in the
NE corner of the park (by the intersection of Old Shakopee Road and
Bloomington Ferry Road). Meet at the park no later than 7:15 am (earlier
is much better) and gather for a list of instructions, to get your map of
the route and to pay your fee/sign a waiver if you are not a MN TriClub or
Gear West TriClub member.

All riders of all abilities are welcome to join us. The only thing we
absolutely require are bike helmets, although eye protection (sunglasses)
and sunscreen (at least SPF 30) are strongly, strongly encouraged. Also,
bring as many water bottles as your bike can carry as well as an extra tube
or two. And finally, if it’s going to be extremely hot, it’s also a good
idea to bring an electrolyte replacement (like Endurolytes or salt tablets)
and some gels (GU, Hammer Gel, etc.) along. Bonking is not fun, so be a
prepared triathlete!

Please RSVP for this ride by noon on Friday, July 25th to Art:
Art15651@....

Future Century Ride dates: August 24 and September 13.

Happy training!

-Art and Coach Kris

Hello everyone!

I pray you are all doing well! We are now a little over a month away from
the 3rd annual FCA Endurance Burnsville 5K. This year's race is the
morning of Saturday August 23.

This race is held as a way to reach out to the endurance community in the
metro area, provide a great family-friendly event, and raise some funds to
help support our ministry. I am sending this to invite you to join us! We
need:

1. Prayer for the event- logistics, health and safety for all involved,
and an open heart for everyone attending.

2. Racers - There's still time to train, and please invite all your
friends!

3. Volunteers - While we can do this event on a fairly small "staff", we
need some help. This is a great way to be involved and support FCA
Endurance without sweating too much :-)

Race info and registration is on our site:
http://www.fcaendurance.org/5K.lsp

A volunteer list is attached, and please contact me if you can help or have
any questions! I'm looking forward to another great year and look forward
to seeing you there!

For His Glory!

Hey all,

I just wanted to invite everyone who will be at Life Time Triathlon
tomorrow to a brief, "unofficial" pre-race prayer. We will meet at 6:30 AM
behind the gear west trailer (hoping that will be in the same place this
year?). Hope to see you there and invite a friend!

By the way, I put the coordinates for the Williams compound in Grand Marais in the Nuvi. I'll just have to relay how to get the key.

I typically don't like to solicit for non-FCA events through our Team, but
this looks like a great opportunity to support Christ's work through

I was wondering if you have a way of advertising different running events
to those in your organization. The Union Gospel Mission is hosting our 6th
Annual “Run with a Mission” 5K on September 20th and we would like to get
the word out. This event, held in Shoreview, MN helps raise awareness to
the hungry and homeless families in the Twin Cities that come to the
Mission for help. For those looking for a short run that is for a good
cause, this is perfect.

No problem Jenny. Sorry we missed you... was actually great down here for
the few hour(s) we were out. Hope the added sleep was nice :-)

You're on the list, but as an FYI to all, we'll likely be going every
weekend from here on out (7:00 AM on Saturday from VBS). Again, weather
pending... 40+degrees and dry.

Have a great weekend, and Happy Mother's Day to everyone who this applies
to!

That’s great we would love to have you.

FYI from here out we will be riding every Saturday. Except under 2 condition.

1.       It is raining.

2.       It is a holiday. ( in this case we would send around an email of a possible reschedule ride).

Thank You,

I just wanted to say a quick thanks for all those who prayed for me
and thought of me while I was preparing and riding in this years
Whitney Classic. I was hoping for a better result, but (I figure) the
Lord had other ideas and I can live with that. For a complete recap,

Oh, and congrats to my favorite FCA-E guy from San Diego, Tony "The

Thanks again.

May everyone see a little Jesus in you today!

Hey all,

I just heard from the pastor at Augustana, and their organist can't make it
for the Twin Cities Marathon pre-race service. Therefore, we are in a
tight pinch for a musician. Does anyone know of someone who could join us
with a guitar to lead a few worship songs? Let me know if you can help.

Hay all!

Hope this note finds you all feeln' great! Are you ready for the kick off
of the new huddle season. Steve and I are. We have been blessed by Dia
and Jen Heaton who offered there home for our kick off party. I am sooo
excited to get back over there and see all of you again! I am also excited
to find out the name of the church down the street from them. It has the
goofiest name. We'll see how many of you catch it on the way there. So as
discussed in our last note. We will have some food, time for catching up
and discussing out plans for the Huddle and then if you like, a movie to
finish off the night. Remember we are planning on the 14th of October from
4-8 pm. The movie options are as follows: cars, american flyers, braking
away, or something else inspiring that we haven't thought of yet. I would
like to get a head count of who will be coming. Please rsvp to me and then
I will send out the directions to Dia and Jens house. Please plan on
bring your own meat and 1 thing to share, I will bring a grill from work
and the popcorn for the movie. Call me if you have any qeustions. Thanks
everyone, can't waint to see you all again and welcome to all our new
members I think there are 2 of you. Please come if you can make it.

Last names starting with...
A-E Some sort of desert
F-J Some sort of salad
K-O Some sort of pop/non-pop
P-T Some sort of muchies/chips

Greetings FCA-ers!
For those of you who don't know me, I am Tim Turnquist of the Twin Cities Spoke of the IC3 and most recently of FCA-E.  I could use some prayers right now.  Here is what I have going on (Note: I am a nerd and think in bullet points, so most of my correspondence ends up in bullets.)
  • I am going to attempt the Whitney Classic  and it scares me more that a little.  The good news is that just the thought of  it excites me even more.  I leave Friday, September 28th for Las Vegas (and spend an afternoon at Interbike), then off to the desert to start the ride on Saturday.  I need prayers for a good ride and to shine for Jesus, since it is for His glory, not mine that I am doing this crazy, crazy thing.
  • My training for this event is not going well.  I have tried to get some miles in (click here for an example ), but between the darkness and things heating up at work I have not been on the bike as much as I would have liked.  As a last resort I finally got out my old bike and rigged it to my old trainer so at least I can get some mile in in the basement after the kids are in bed.
  • Work has been very stressful.  I don't need to go into details, but suffice it to say that I made some promises (as a computer consultant) that I have not yet been able to make good on.
  • My riding partner for the Whitney, Chip, has thrown his back out and could use some prayers.  I don't think he will be able to ride and right now it is doubtful that he will be able to sit on the airplane comfortable enough to make the trip at all.
  • Generally I am in a funk because the season is winding down and I am not ready for it to be over.  Pray that the Lord opens new doors for me to be excited about as the seasons turn.
See you on the road!
