Ferry County is just north of here. There is a group up there that has
been working on a rail trail along the Kettle River. There is an
abandoned rail right of way along the river that extends way into
Canada. This would be like the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes or the
Hiawatha: a scenic trail for non-motorized traffic. The Ferry county
commissioners got the idea that allowing ORVS on the rail trail would
be a good idea. A big fight ensued, and this court ruling is hopefully
the final word on it. FTTRC wrote a letter of support of keeping the
trail non motorized, in the spirit of the other great recreational
trails we have around here.
Here a link to their site, it looks like it has a good map on it.
